ive looked into a few BC stocks... nothing overboard though. Just looking mainly for a recoil reducing stock that feels better then the stock. so i can shoot tighter groups and shoot longer!

fill the butt of the factory stock with lead shot. it added about 9 lbs. to the weight of my rifle. what recoil? you wont want to carry it anywhere though!

Did you ever measure the action screw distance to see which action you have? If you are wanting a Choate stock they make them for BOTH bolt spacing in short action, as well as a long action. They are very nice stocks and they do reduce felt recoil. They are heavy, gun will be about 11-13 lbs including scope. Just make sure you tell them what the bolt spacing is when you order it. You can also look on Savage Shooters. I am a regular member there and there is alot of info, pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about a Savage. just got an email back from the place toolman told me to email, Here is the response: Subject: RE: Savage 10FP The new guns do have a different hole spacing and we do not currently have a stock to fit them. For the moment there just isn't anything available that I know of. Thanks for writing. Steve Ostrem Brownells Technical Support Brownells - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools another note my mom picked me up a limbsaver recoil pad today! so that should help to. next will be the lead shot (if i cant find a new stock, and if the recoil pad just isnt enough) |

I am almost positive that Choate DOES make their ultimate sniper and ultimate varmint for both of the short action screw spacings!!! I was told that they make it for the newer ones, it is just not updated on their website yet. Maybe not, but it is worth the phone call. Give Choate a call and ask them, since that is the one you're looking at anyway. Their number is 1-501-724-6193. Open from 8am-330pm cst. If not, you could buy the one for the older style action and just redrill and pillar the front action screw to fit yours. I've seen it done on other style stocks, and that's what I'm considering doing on the one I want. Last edited by pdog06; 05-13-2008 at 05:51 PM. Reason: info add |

i dont understand. i have a savage 10-fp AND I HAVE PUT A CHOATE STOCK ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!! i bought mine about 6 months ago. what is the problem? they make short action/long action /right hand /left hand . the choate website tells you to measure those holes. so do it and you will know which to order! do you own a tape measure? use it.

Less recoil? You're talking to somebody that just bought a Mosin Nagant M44 AND a Steyr M95. I LOVE recoil! Now don't bother me, I have to go ice down my shoulder. |
