+1. I have an M39 with pitting between the lands and the lands aren't too sharp but I'm going to shoot it and decide if I have a wall hanger. Gun Test magazine recently reviewed the M1 and the one they got as a surplus rifle had a barrel that was worn out the last few inches (IIRC) and it was the most accurate of the bunch.
