That attitude also defies the very concept of membership in any organization. It is the same attitude I have already seen displayed at the county level Republican Party. They ask for teamwork from everybody and then turn 100% of their attention to the battles they deem as important to them while neglecting the very people who put them in their position to begin with and have funded them. That is not teamwork or working towards a single goal. It certainly is not unity. Furthermore, it alienates and fractures the corps of the populace of an organization. Let that keep happening to people and watch the numbers dwindle. The NRA already has trouble getting and keeping members. It is to the point where recruiters have to almost shame people into joining as if it were The Teamsters. There is reason for that. First, they have developed a reputation that they probably deserve and many people don't want to be associated with them. Next, when it does come to legislative action, they sometimes do themselves harm by backing candidates that have a horrid track record in most things but have a decent gun support record. Therefore, an unproven candidate will be passed over for support and a candidate that will do more harm than good to the general welfare of the constituency. Remember that the NRA is a single issue organization. Forget what taxation, land use, and other issues may do to gun owners. If you don't think that local elections are important, then lobby for moving the recently relocated upcoming NRA convention back to its originally proposed venue. Keep in mind, LD, I wasn't seeking money. I wasn't wanting access to database information. I wasn't asking for an endorsement. I wasn't asking for a representative to campaign. All I wanted was to discuss the possibility of letting fellow members in the town know that one of their own was running for office and would support the very ideals they share with me in our town. Period. What I got was a "not my job" mentality. THAT is what cheeses me off. I called the NRA offices because I was doing what most people (insert your name here if applicable, which will most likely be most of those reading this) don't have the balls to do...actually get involved and make a difference rather than sitting on the side lines being critical of those who do. Most of you making negative comments on this thread have missed the main point entirely, levied charges, hypothesis after hypothesis, made character assumptions, and just plain wanted to start an argument. However, you have pretty much missed the main point. | |

| I'm sorry but I can't really blame them, but maybe you can cause a change if you continue to address the need for the NRA endorcements. Who knows you may be the Govenor then senator and higher. Everything cost money so thats the real reason there not going to support the small guy. Can't you use I'm a member of the NRA on your cards and signs ? |

| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | I was a NRA member for 25+ years. I dropped them fast! I was in at the early stage. Boo on them. They went South a long time ago. It's not about what they deaem actionable! t's about what we paying members deam actionable! Beginning to sound like Basic Politics 101? You might as well piss up a rope. They have neutered themselves with most older gunowers!

| Senior Member | The one I had trouble with was Tanya Metaska. I was sent something in the mail and told to notify my senator so that weekend when i saw Saxby I talked to him at the gun show. Back then he would go to gun shows. Anyway the next week I was called and asked why I didn't notify him. I told them I talked to him and was basically called a liar. Apparently they got a list of the people who sent in their little fliers. I resigned my membership. I liked La Pierre I liked Heston but I didn't like some piss ant calling me a liar on the phone after panhandling me weekly for money. I know Rich it's an old post but it's an old beef.

| So... seeing as there are quite a few people here irritated with the NRA, are there any plans to start a new group to eventually replace them, or at least provide a good alternative? If so, then let me know.
