| Resident Armed Liberal ![]() | I'm still trying to figure out how letting a couple of women or men get married is going to do anything at all to mine. Anyone who's worried that it somehow destroys the "sanctity of marriage" should go have a talk with Brittney Spears; wasn't she the one who married a guy for a weekend fling, then had the marriage canceled? Or go talk to Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich, who prize the sanctity of marriage so much they've each had several of them. I didn't like the idea when I first heard it. But after thinking it over during the last few years, I've decided it's no skin off my nose and makes them happy, so why not? What we really need to do is stop having civil marriages, and call every civil marriage a civil union instead. Then, those who want a religious component to their marriage can take their civil union certificate down to a church, and have a religious marriage ceremony. Of course, there would be those raising a fuss about churches not performing weddings for gays, but there'd be fewer than there are getting upset about the government having civil marriages for them. By the way, I think Vermont already allows same-sex marriage. Doesn't seem to have changed a thing in that state, really...

| Сергей Иванович Мосин ![]() | I don't know Troy. I'm more on the side of AH and GM on this particular issue. I can see your point and where you're coming from, but I'd have to say as a devout Catholic that I personally believe homosexuality is morally wrong. I won't do anything to discriminate against them and I don't believe that not allowing them to marry is against their "civil-rights". I believe that it may be halting them from claiming "spousal" privileges that I believe should not be allowed in any way, shape, or form. Because they will not procreate (for the most part, for Lesbians there is always Artificial Insemination, but I'm not sure how most states look upon that), and if one partner is not working, there is really no contribution to society that there would be with a traditional heterosexual couple. In addition to all that, I am a devout Catholic (I go to Mass at least twice a week and confession once every two weeks or so) and I agree with the Vatican on this issue without even having studied it, although that (studying the issue) did help to convince my analytical side to follow my emotional one. | In my opinion being gay is unnatural.Left to their own devices they could not reproduce. If they would stay in the closet I would'nt have a problem it,but when they push their agenda's in the public school system then I do have a problem with it.It's just a ploy by the left to absorb more votes. |

| AH, the Supreme Court can go against the people. Most people in this nation are unfit to pick what breakfast cereal they want, and that is whats great about the SC. The Supreme Court justices are not elected, and therefore, have no allegiance to the people. That is their whole point, Checks and Balances. With no allegiance to the people, they can make the decisions they feel are correct. And if the people really don't like the decision, they can petition their representatives to pass the law anyway, they SC really has no power other than to strongly advise, the elected officials follow. To use God to bash gays is wrong. Would Jesus refuse to serve somebody because they were gay? Remember, he dined with hookers and tax collectors. Christian is universal, remember?, to be a Christian you must ACCEPT all for who they are, just as Jesus did. Do any of you actually know a gay person who CHOSE to be gay? I don't. I have a lot of gay friends and acquaintances. They are just like you and I, but they are attracted to the same sex. They like beer and sports and guns. Every single one of them knew from an early age they were gay, they couldn't suppress it no matter how hard they tried. Do you think they woke up one day and said to themselves "Hey, I want to live a life where I am persecuted and hated for who I am."? Absolutely not. It IS who they are. They are good people. I would not be surprised if many of them posted here, and are people you call friends, but are afraid to say they are gay. Many of them stand up for your right to bash them by serving proudly and silently in the military. So before you go around ripping on them for being born gay, think about how many gays have laid down their lives for you and I, if you can't respect them and their sacrifice because they are gay...I feel really really sorry for you. They are like you and I, people, who like to be with people with the same reproductive organs as them...big f*cking deal. Answer this. Will them getting married have any effect on your life at all? I'm hedging my bets on no, because no matter what, they are going to be together. And the sanctity of marriage is a big joke. 52% Divorce rate! That is sacred and good? Give me a break. I'm not gay, because I wasn't born gay. But they can hardly stand up for themselves, and one day you may have to depend on a gay person for your life. I'm not attacking anybody here. You all have your opinions. Have them, I don't care, just let me have mine as well. If that will piss off God, I really don't care. That isn't the kind of God I want to have anyways. | And I respect that completely. I wanted you to stand steadfast, that is what is right about this country, most people are stubborn and won't budge. Hell, if we weren't all stubborn, we would be France . I just wanted y'all to hear me out and see the other side...because without the other side, we would be Iran . ![]()

My wife works in that area every other week. Plus my family and I will be staying there for the summer while the kids are out of school. I know troy2000 loves his state, but I sure do know he hates what they do. ![]() | |

| I had made another post before the one above explaining a storey I read in Readers Digest. About a little boy named billy. He was the first or one of the first to contract Aids in the U.S.. Then 2 years later I saw a movie on t.v. based on this story. Man oh man that poor child went through hell and died because of the gay life style. The kid received a blood transfusion and thats how he contracted Aids. For this kid and what the Bible says I'll never condone Gays nor there lifestyle. the movie was named Billy go to the Light. |

| Senior Member | Everyone is talking powerful stuff, here. I don't believe in bashing anyone, for how they live, but I also don't want an unnatural lifestyle taught in public schools. I don't care what they do with their lives, just don't try to force it on me and mine. And that is exactly what they are doing, in San Fran! This thread is about a mayor who is going against federal law, and should be jailed, simple as that. Newsome is a jerk, and does what he does, because he's a wacko, and likes the notoriety. The feds oughta put him in jail with the very folks he thinks so much of, and after they have a little party with him, he might change his tune. Illegal is illegal, simple as that.

| The people in San Francisco elected their mayor because he represents the type of person that they are, plain and simple. Don't like him? Don't live there. Heck, I can figure that much out.
