savage 99

Was wondering if someone could help my with the value of two model 99's I have?
One is 99A with straight stock,curved schnoble forearm,22" barrel.
most of the blueing is worn off the reviever, about 50% on barrel.
Shoots and functions good, stock in good condition.serial #C4579xx

The other one is Model 99 300 cal. not sure but think it is EG
Has pistol grip stock,Schnole forearm, stock has checkering also.
Made in Chicope Falls, has savage 300 Circled sp on barrel by reciever.
It also has circled 7C in front of lever
blueing is 90%,stock is very nice. serial #5824xx

Any help would be appreciated;thanks

What caliber is the 99A in? Makes a difference on value.

The EG in 300 Sav is the most common 99 on the market, kinda like the Winchester 94 in 30-30. If yours has 90% condition for a 1951 manufacture it'd go higher than most. You can't really put a price on them in the U.S., the prices vary so friggan greatly down there that it's a hard thing to put a price on. A ballpark on a 99EG in 90% cond would be around $500 in my neck of the woods but would probably bring $700 or more from the nut jobs on Gunbroker. The command for 99's has risen so high in the last 5 years who knows. I can remember 5 years back you could buy up EG's for $200-$300 a pop, not anymore though.

Thanks alot for the information; sorry I forgot to included the cal. on the 99A. It is a 243; I have heard that there were fewer of them made; is that true?

Ya, thats true, usually most of the A's you see are in either 308 or 250, the 243 was less common in that model.

The blu loss is gonna affect value but it's still a shooter class rifle, I wouldn't take anything less than $450 on it. Get yourself a membership on Gunbroker and I'd bet you'll take home more than it's worth from the guys that gotta have them all.
