| Never done it, never found a place to do it. But I would LOVE to murder some! I absolutely HATE rats! I remember reading once about somebody inventing the sport of rat fishing in Chicago or New York, basically using a fishing pole and small baited treble hooks. Guess it was great sport until the rat lovers found out about it.

| i wouldn't mind poping some rats with 22 hollow points, that seems like that would be fun. Only problem there's no rats to to pop. rondog where did those folks catch the rats ? Did they drop a hook in the in the sewer drains ? privateer thanks for the message feller. I gotta ask because I've always wanted a blow gun to shoot darts. Are thay pretty acurate ? And do they go far ?...A.H |

| Those blowguns are alot of fun. I once shot a bumble bee with mine about 15 yards, they take practice and i haven't done it for awhile. I shot a squirrel once when i was young and dumb and it ran off and pulled it out and on it went.....stuck it in his noggin too. Not smart i know but i was about 13 and stupid. They can pry be accurate to about 25 yards with work. I know i could hit sparrows about that far. We always used to shoot at a circle on our shed about 40 yards and hit it but it was about 8 in. across and we were inconsistent |

| I did a Google search on rat fishing, and it was in Baltimore. They just fished for them in the alleys. Search on Google or You Tube for rat fishing.

| .22 shotshells and .22 hollowpoints sound like fun. But since I we don't have any to kill I'll stick to the tree rats.

| Shooting rats at a dump would be dream come true. I hate rats. I was sleeping with my girlfriend in the Philippines and had one run up on my back. I would pay to shoot rats. |

| Another name for the Bushy-tailed Treerat is "The Prince Of The Treetops". Fine eating! I never had rats (of the non-bushy-tailed type), but did have a mouse infestation once, in a previous house. The final tally was: Crossman .22 cal. CO2 pistol - 14 kills confirmed, including "Big Momma"! Decon Mouse-Pruf II - 8 confirmed kills, many probables. Size 14 combat boot - one very stupid mouse..... ![]() Once Big Momma was nailed the infestation stopped. The secret - identify the 'game trails' (behind the computer desk, along the livingroom window sill, to behind the TV and VCR). Set up 'bait' on game trail. Wait in my 'hide', aka the Easy Chair. TV on low, lights doused, gun cocked. Mouse on the game trail! "POP!" Got him on top of the VCR - nothin' but meat! Return to watching "Married With Children"..... til the next time..... ![]() That little Crossman is laser deadly inside ten yards. ![]()

| Senior Member | People just don't realize how deadly and powerful these little Crosman 760's are! I was standing in the back yard talking over the fence with a neighbor the other day, when a mid-sized cottontail came into view by my back fenceline (about 85 feet away). I just reached into the house, pulled out the Crosman, (which my wife had already pumped up to shoot at a bird earlier) and took aim. Pop! The rabbit did a 3-foot leap (rear legs straight up, head in same place!) and slammed down on his head. One front paw came up, quivered a second, and he went limp! "You didn't!," my neighbor said. "That was a heart shot!" "So?," I said. "That was a great shot!" After I flipped the rabbit over the back fence for the carrion eaters, my neighbor was still talking about that shot. I told him half of it was having an accurate air rifle. I've got some replaced fence boards stacked about 60 feet from where we're talking. I told him, "See that horsefly on that board end?" One pop later, he was again, "You didn't!" He came around and looked at where the BB had stuck in the wood. There were fly wings and other detritus around the BB. My neighbor, a former Marine rifleman, stated that was like shooting 10-rings on the 300-yard known distance range. The next evening, he called me to the fence - to show me HIS new Crosman! LOL! When you get familiar with the weapon (I used to practice by shooting flies off the rocks lining our back garden - about 50 feet), the power and accuracy really come into play. Always be consistent in the number of pumps (I always go the full 10) and take note of your impact points. I know that at 50 feet, I can hit within a 1-inch circle consistently, loaded with BBs, and I can be even more accurate with pellets. I just have to cheat pellets a hair left. As Walter Brennan always used to say on "The Guns of Will Sonnet," "No brag. Jest fact..."
