| A 22-250 is a great gun for hunting prarie dogs or any other varmit. But I perfer a .223 they are much cheaper to shoot and preform very simmilar. I have a Mini 14 and use it to for every thing. Picking a scope is a tricky process. If you plan to only use the gun for prarie dogs a high magnification scope would be the best. But if you want to use it for cyote or fox or some other fast game on the run it is hard to get them in the scope. I use a 6X24 simons good scope but not great for fast action like beaver hunting yet is very good for cyotes and foxes. I plan to purchase a eagle scope mount so I can use both the open sights and the scope. My friend has a 22-250 and we go prarie dog hunting and my Mini 14 which has a costom barrel will hit any thing he can. For less $. For just prarie dog hunting only I would recomend a bolt action much more accurate and cheaper. It all depends what you want later Otto |
