| Senior Bear Fluffer ![]() | In New Thuty Thuty's the word is MAHLIN! Although those Henry's are pretty sweet as well. I have handled a Mossy 30-30 and quite frankly was not impressed. Then again. I am a Marlin fan through and through.

| Moderator ![]() | I'd go with the new Mossy - because I already have the Marlin 336! I also have a Savage M340 boltie in Thutty-thutty - so I'd really have a hard time justifying another one - "too much of a good thing"....?

| Banned | I have a Savage 30-30, and I can't figure out what to do with it, other than collect dust? For family nostalgic reasons (belonged to my grandfather), I can't sell it. Just can't think of a practical purpose for it... ![]() |

| Registered User | I would have to go along the same lines as JohnBlaze up above . I went out shooting with a friend and he brought out his winchester 94, it is a great gun, but the top eject is annoying very quickly. I,ve shot Marlin 336 before and I must say I prefer it over the Winchester 94. Long story short --- Take the Marlin 336 |

| Senior Member | I have had the a Marlin 336 and Win. 94. My vote is for the Marlin. Both were fine shooter. Its just easier to mount a scope on the Marlin. My sister also has I Rossi bolt action thats a very accurate shooter. |

| Senior Member | Marlin vs Winchester They are pretty close, there are a few aftermarket tune up items for the marlin, they come in allot more option's synthetic stocks, laminate wood's, ported barrels, the winchesters came with the beefy reinforcement on the back the action for the heaver calibers and the newer ones had angle eject and the push button safety, the only downside would be if you want to top off the mag while hunting you cannot do it on a Winchester as the rounds in the mag block the loading gate, same go's for the Rossi 92 which is also another fine lever gun for pistol cal cartridges. |

| Member | I can't judge the Mossberg with out at least seeing one and the article I read on them seemed good. They had some nice features and I have found Mossberg to be of good quality. I have owned many Marlins & Winchesters and still have one Marlin & two Winchesters. I think Marlin is somewhat higher quality but I still love the Winchesters. Another lever gun I favor is my Savage 99 in .303 Savage. I prefer a receiver peep sight on my lever guns since they are generally used as a bush gun (in my case at least). | Senior Member | I've got a Win 1894 take down rifle made in the early 1900s when I still hunted it took deer with no trouble. Now that I reload for Cowboy Action, if I.m not careful with OAL it'll jam. I just traded a 44 mag Win for a Marlin cowboy for the same problem the marlin works every time. won't get rid of the 1894, but if I was going to get another lever 30-30 I'd get a Marlin

| Senior Member | Long ago I used to have a Marlin-made 30-30, a Glenfield maybe? It had a short magazine tube, so maybe it was a carbine, too long ago. It was a good rifle, wish I still had it. Only thing I ever shot with it was a jackrabbit. Oh my! What a mess.....
