.22LR MiniMags
Shooting the Sig Mosquito "L00KING GLASS" Black OP's
~Holding Police Grip & Stance~
Here's My "first" Target after installing the RedDot...
First few shots right off the paper lower left...<:-((...
I cranked them on Windage & Elevation adjustments, took
a few more shots, cranked on them adjustments some more,
and emptied the Mags... The Mosquito & RedDot Stitched
them pretty Tight...<:-)) I thought it was darn good for a gun
that is Marketed as a "Plinker Trainer" gun, and not a Target Gun...

This here Below pretty much sums up what its about...<:-))
Silent in the Night ~ Remember our Motto Gunner's "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" its all about Shot Placement... One .22 subsonic just below that little knob on the back of your Head, and its over...<:-(( We all know that "More Civilian On Clivilian Deaths" have been registered by the the lowly .22 calibur than any other calibur...YUP Remember Reagan almost got taken out by one... Pesky little buggers... They get in, and poke holes in all the vital organs, and by the time they get a person to the hospital, and are operating on him to plug all the leaks, its a slow bleed out... They tend to snake around in a person once they get there...

The Wife never shot a Pistol till I got this Gun as a Family Shooter... So the Wife, and 2 Girls could have some fun Shooting at the Range... Needless to say the Wife Shoots every time we go to the Range now, and is having Fun...<:-)) (they didn't like My Big Hand Cannons, to much Bark and Kick)... Now the Wife is starting to call it Her Gun...<:-(( I pitty the Poor BG that come in when She's home alone...!!! That Guy is going to walk right into a Mosquito with 10 Stinger Rounds in the Mag... Dumped right into His Center Mass...!!!...<:-)) She's getting to be a Crack shot... I just ordered another 1000 rounds of CCI MiniMags for the Range...
Wife keeps it as HER Bedside Gun...!!!...<:-)) She keeps it with the StreamLight M6X on it like the Pic Below...

PS. If you want to get the Women into Guns, you Just got to get them one that's FUN, and Fits them...
Notice the Pink Targets I made for the Range... We make concessions for the Lady's...
I may have to draw the line, if She asks me to put Rhinestones in the Grips...

I guess this is what it would look like if a BG busted in on her.... YIKES

Sgt. Knuckles of NAA forum fame? Nice Mosquito and nice shooting. Dang! Especially when one reads all the negatives 'bout'em. I recently purchased an NRA edition Mosquito and like it a whole lot. It came with 3 front sights and shot high. After switching out the factory installed front sight for the tallest front sight the shots came down right where they should be. Only one thing concerns me now: I can't figure out how to take the mags apart for cleaning. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Does the Mosquito front sight just pull straight out? Use pliers or some other gripping device?

Ah, a question I can answer: the front sight is held in place with a little clip/catch on the front and back. These are easy to see when the slide it removed and turned upside down. By using a small slot screwdriver, I pushed one of the two catches just enough to free the sight and then pulled it up and out of the top of the slide. Sorry that I don't have a camera good enough include a picture. It was easily accomplished. If you take a look at SgtKnuckles Mosquito, I believe it has the tall front sight on it. That is the one I put on after removing the factory installed one of the 3 included in the kit.

BTW: when the safety is engaged, the trigger can still be pulled and the hammer will move but will not strike the firing mechanism. I only found this out the embarassing way at the range. I thought it was the Remington bulk loads I had bought so I went back to the much recommended CCI Mini-Mags that had worked so well the first time I went to the range. Still nothing. I changed springs and tried both types of ammo. Still nothing. That's when I noticed the red dot on the safety. Fool am I. Upon turning the safety off, I fed 225 rounds of the much cheaper Remington 36gr hollow point bulk ammo with zero problems.

Thanks, Benzuncle. I bought my Mosquito over the winter for two reasons: I wanted a .22 that's easy to tear down and reassemble (unlike my Ruger MkII 10/45) and is close enough to my P229 that I can cheaply practice range and muscle memory exercises. Mine, too, shoots somewhat high and needs the taller front post but I found nothing in the manual or online to show me how to do it. I'll tackle that project when I get home this evening (and may even get to the range to test it). Many thanks,
Jim

Firearms companys don't spend many dinero on owners manuals, do they? Did yours come with the extra front sights? Mine also had a little tool but I'll be darned if I can figure out what it is for. Here's a picture of it. It's the unit with the keychain ring attached.
The tallest of the 3 worked just right for my Mosquito. The larger of the 2 pictured was the one on the Mosquito as it came from the factory.

~Its all in the Mag spring, and Slide spring Timing for it to work right... (Slide spring small end points to rear of Gun)...

~Problems at the Range~
~ARE THE INTERNALS REALLY CLEAN~(eliminating that Question) Take a Can of WD40, and a Rage to the Range with you, and at the First sign of Trouble, take the Slide off and Flush out the Slide (right up the firing pin hole, and Ejector ect.) Brass Brush the hell out of the Chamber, and Flush every Bit of the Gun Body, and Barrel Out, and Hose the Mag internals to... Remingtons Dirty Powder gets Blown into every nook, and cranny... Use WD40,and pull back the Extractor and back Flush it out... Take a close look at the Barb on that Extractor to...

Put the Gun back together WET (just wipe off the outside... Now shoot the Same numbered Mag you had trouble with)...

~Remember: any Shinny Parts & Wear Spots you see under the Slide, and Rail, and in the Gun Body, are asking for GUN OIL...!!! The Gun will tell where it wants OIL... Clean Every 200 Rounds, or after every Trip to the Range...
~I would tell you what Teflon Oil to use... But every body's got there Favorite oil... The Gunner's would just start Flaming this Post...<:-((

Changed the front sight out just as prescribed. Sadly, some thunderstorms chose to make a late afternoon visit so the range trip was scrubbed, so to speak. My kit included the alternate spring and high and low sights, no tool.

MemphisJim1,...
That little tool on the Ring is your Gun lock KEY you use on the Bottom of the Grip...

To change the Front sight, you take the Slide off and carefully push the little barbed end just enough to let you pull it out with your fingers...

~SIG says run MiniMags and the Heavy White Spring...
~Clean the Gun, every 200 Rds.
~After 500 Rds. of MiniMags, try putting in the lite Spring and Running a Box of 50 Rds. Federal Standard .22 LR's... Any problems... Run another 500 MiniMags with the Heavy White Spring... Then try Standard Rounds again...
~THE MAG~
A .22 Mag has that follower Lowering Button for a Reason on the Side so you Lower it when Loading, as to not Distort the the "Little Skinny" .22 Bullet by pushing Rounds into the MAG...!!! That can lead to Bullets that may not Feed Properly (never push on the lead end when loading)(think Banana)... Use the Lowering Button OR just push only on the Brass to Load...

Sgt. Thanks for all that info. The Knockout Barrel Cleaning Kit looks a whole lot like a bore snake, for half the price!

Glad that worked for you and now, thanks to Sarge, we know what that little doohickey on the keychain ring is for. Let us know how it shoots. K?

SGT.Knuckles, you should go to the NCStar DB4 reddot. Much smaller, and 4 reticles to choose from. This one here.
Product Categories

Glad you like it, but, I have a 50mm BSA reddot and it's just too dam big for any handgun in my book. Glad you like it on yours though. But seriously, check out the DB4. Muck smaller and I think, after using one, faster sight acquisition and definately, much lighter. lol There's also these ATN red dots. I'm surprised you like that big thing on top that somewhat small Sig. Give these a look also though.
