PT145...Still DAO?

Hello Taurus pro's. Just joined up and I could use some insight. I will most likely purchase the PT145 10+1. The available reviews say it's a DAO but the web site says the 10+1 is a DA/SA. The 6+1 is of course DAO but I want he higher capacity. So....is the 145 still available in DAO.

Thanks for any help. I look forward to contributing. I love to hunt and shoot and I love my guns. I'm in the right place right.

Hello

I just bought a Pt145 two days ago! The first round is a double action and the other rounds are single action. I put 150 rounds through it yesterday and no malfunctions. This will be my CCW weapon of choice.

No the first round is SA because you have to cock the firearm to load it. If it fails to go bang then and only then are you back to DA. Mines been great by the way. Don't limp wrist it though they can short cycle on you.

Yes the PT145 Millennium Pro Gen 3 are DA/SA.

More of an LDA.....Good second strike capability under full DA, but the PT-145 first hit is more like a long SA/LDA hit. Very nice trigger (with firing pin block safe to carry with safety off); but never felt comfortable carrying with safety off due to light trigger pull (unlike TDA). Your choice--gun has great trigger and won't fire unless it's depressed.

I worked on my own sights (they were also way off). I was happy w/ the results.

I've had my PT145 pro for 3 months now and it has performed flawlessly. It's my first Taurus and I am pleasantly surprised how nice a gun it is for the money.

Taurus should stick with revolvers. I got sick of mine after about 3 months. The only good thing it ever did was appear in a ministry photo...

Correction: I had the 24/7.

the pt145 milliniam pro is double action only with a looong no resistance first stage trigger pull that meets resistance only during the last 1/4 inch of travel. the trigger takes some practice to get used to, but once mastered is quite easy to control.

I was looking at this gun online yesterday and was thinking about getting it. How is the recoil?

I have a 2nd generation Pro145 DAO, I've owned and shot over 40 handguns, and of the lot, this is my favoite. It certainly dispelled all myths I ever heard about a .45 acp having to be a heavy gun to be accurate. It is the best 23 ounces (unloaded)of firepower available, with 11 total rounds. I see a lot of posts about the sights being off. Mine has the 3 dot sights, and being DAO, it takes some getting used to, squeezing the trigger without pulling or pushing the point of aim. Over 1,000 rounds fired since I bought it slightly used for $249.00, two years ago, no failures to feed or eject. I had one failure to fire in a box of Wolf, as the Wolf sometime has a hard primer shell, but the gun has otherwise digested everything I've fed it, with no hiccups. I had owned a lot of handguns, never thinking I could handle a .45, then shot a friend's gold cup and became interested, only I set my budget at $500.00. I went to a firing range that rented handguns and tried out a few, Springfield 1911 which was o'kay, a Karr subcompact that I couldn't hit my butt with, and had to put down after 10 rounds because it was bruising my hand, and a Glock that was o'kay. A few days later, I was in my now favorite gunshop, and saw this PT145 in the used guns case, but it looked new for $249.00. I hadn't shot one, or looked at reviews, and figured it would be as bad as the Karr on my hands, but bought it anyway thinking if I had to shoot it (bought it to keep beside my sleeping bag when I go tent camping) I wouldn't care about the pain. I took it out to my hunting lease to try it out, and I was impressed. If I could own no more than one firearm period, It would be between the PT145 and My Saiga 12 (for those of you who don't know, the Saiga 12 is a semiauto 12 gauge built on the AK platform, with 10 round magazines available). For self defense I would take the Saiga 12, but for concealed firepower, the PT145. I have thought about the new PT145 with the single action, but I am used to the DAO, and the safety of not having to use a safety.Recoil not bad, I have small hands without much paddingThe PT145 is the best value in any handgun today.
The first generation MPro Pt145 had a problem with the frame cracking, never heard of any problems with 2nd generation. Third and 4th generation PT 145 is single action, heard of some cracking problems with fourth gen PT145, but just read on a forum. 3rd and 4th have Hienie or straight eight sights instead of three dots. Mine is second gen, DAO, I love it.

I purchased my PT-145 in SS a couple weeks ago. I took it to the range and pushed 200 rounds of 230gr RN's through it. It pushed back. Just like my Sig Sauer P220 Compact pushes. BTW: I only shoot one-handed and do not have a problem in the least with shooting the PT-145 this way. I shot the first mag through it two-handed because I was also worried about the recoil. I was way pleased with the way the firearm handled and shot. The 3rd Gen trigger in SA is very nice, very nice. The Heinie sights took some getting used to but I'm used to the Sig 3-dot night sights which will spoil most anyone. I may replace the Heinies with the similar Sig sights. If I worked for Consumer Reports, I'd give the Taurus PT-145 a BEST BUY rating!

My PT145 is only a month old but has 500 rounds thru it already. Not a single hiccup so far with ball ammo or the JHPs I ran thru it. It isn't quite as accurate as my Colt Defender but close enough for me at 45 feet. For the money, this one has a lot of others beat. Will probably be my vehicle gun in the next week or two.

(am trying to find a PT709 Slim at the moment but that would be in 9mm and not .45 acp.)

I shot my new PT145 Pro last week and it jammed on the third shot. Made sure I was not limp wristing it and it jammed again on the 5th round of the second magazine. I shot a total of 30 rounds and it only jammed those two times. Wolff doesn't seem to make a spring for the mag, is there another good source for mag springs? It seems like the recoil spring doesn't put much presser on the slide at home position. Seems kind of loose, don't know if that is normal.

New member here with a new to me used 2nd Gen DAO PT145. I shot it for the first time this weekend and put 120 rnds through it,100 WWB ball and 20 Remington JHP's. Now I know that thats not a real big function test but the gun fuctioned great without a bobble! I am very pleased. As "jake" stated, the DAO trigger takes some getting used to, but once you do its great. Its my first DAO gun but it real smooth. I plan on carrying it for my CCW gun and feel good about it.
