| Went out early before it got hot and tried the new Hakim. What a gun!!! It certainly turned some heads at the range. I had a slight problem with the first full magazine. One round didnt feed right and the bolt didnt stay open on the last shot. I fugure there must have been some dirt or something because after that it worked perfectly and didnt have any more problems. I know I flinched on the first shot because I loaded some ammo and loaded it much hotter than I care to shoot in the Mausers. I expected one heck of a kick but it was nothing!! It was less than my 6.5 Swede and I was shooting 14 more grains of powder. Still not near max though. The trigger pull is great and I think it may have had some work done to it. The only other trigger on a military rifle that comes close is the Swede. It ejects the empties about 15 yards ahead and to the right and when it does it tears the heck out of the brass. They are so badly dented that most cant be reloaded. I didnt take time to shoot for acuracy but every single round was on the paper at 100 yards and about 1" to the left. Not bad considering I was just having too much fun pulling the trigger like it was a .22 auto!! The Hakim is awesome!!! |

| you need to turn the gas valve down a little bit and maybe polish the chamber. some are a little rough.

| I paid $335 for mine. That makes it the second most expensive military rifle in my collection but I think it was worth every penny. I am definately going to turn the gas valve down next time out! |

| Snakebite, Welcome to the ranks of Hakim owners. Yes you will turn heads and bodies at the range, most people will just want to get away from the blast/breeze that this rifle kicks up. A 1/4" nut driver and a dremel tool will make you a dandy gas port adjustment tool, just put the nut driver on top of the triangle adjuster, have the back lobes in the back of the interior of the nutdriver, mark the part that needs to be removed. viola a adjuster. To save your brass for reloading, put a piece or rubber hose or surgical tubeing held in place with zip-strip wire ties or build up the brass deflector with "dip-it" insulating tool handle dip.(you can get this at your local hardware store). OEM Mags are rare and pricey!!!(saw 2 ea at a recient show---$75 a pop!!!!). Heard you can adapt the 6.5 Swede Lugesman(spelling) to fit the Hakim. Parts are also sort of hard to find, there was a person in California 10 years ago who had a bunch, but he is not there anymore and i can't find out if he is still in the parts business. Hope this all helps and again welcome to our ranks....
