Question Hakim gas valve

I made a tool to adjust the gas valve and it works perfectly! I had a question as to the position of the valve itself. If the wedge shape is pointed directly to the rear it gets full power from the gas but can it be rotated around to where it blocks all gas and not cycle the action? It has about seven distinctive clicks when its turned and then the clicks stop and it just rotates to where its pointed forward. Is this the off position? Is it safe to shoot it with the valve turned so far to the off position?

Snakebite, the gas sytem adjustment is for adjust for different ammo. as far as I know the hakim did not launch grenades(if I am wrong with this please let me know) Most "full off" modes were for this function. I run handloads in mine, so the gas system in set at the 1/2 open setting. If yours "just rotates around" after the clicks stop you might actually be unscrewing the valve head from the body, This can be a very bad thing. Somemore reasearch is in order or I would ask a gunsmith to check it over and see what is up with yours. I have looked out there for more info on this rifle, and have not had much luck finding any, most of what I have found has been in this forum. Good luck..

Thanks Rem.303,
Thats exactly why I asked on this forum. I havent been able to find the answer I'm looking for either. I dont think I'm unscrewing the valve because it does stop and only turns 1/2 way around. I havent seen anything about it being used to launch grenades and I doubt it was used for that. How far does the valve turn on yours? It seems to work just fine but I wanted to double check on it. Better safe than sorry.

Snakebite, the valve on mine dosen't go past the last click. is your "Plate" spring fully engaging the notches on the valve body? also does it rotate in one direction only?(as in clockwise?) (Clock wise closes off the port and counter-clock opens the port.) At one time there was a person advertising in the Shotgun News who had parts manuals ect....But I haven't seen the ad in there in a long while. Have you been told how to use the stripper clip bridge? let me know and I will let you have the info.. Later on..
