Help Stevens 110e

I have a friend that wants to sell a Stevens 110e (It does not have a Savage stamp anywhere on the gun) I belive it said K series(not sure) on it also It has a old Birch stock Cal is 3006 Condtion is very good but stock will have to be refinished(good project for me) The rear sight is open Williams leaf sight. Trigger heavy but no creep,better than the newer Savages110e triggers I have seen alot of Savages 100e But Just marked Stevens I was wondering is this a better gun than the Savage. At one time I thought it was Savage Stevens This Rifle must be older than that. What Year were they made?What kind of price should i look for

I'd say around $250.00. I saw a Savage 110 .30/06 stainless bull fluted barrel with a muzzle break and Redfield rings sell for $365.00 (used) about 6 months ago.

I got the gun for 100.00 I thought it might be older than 1978 Was not sure. I would like to refinished the stock due to some of the varnish coming off the stock(looks bad) But a friend told me it would look bad due to a birch stock and said no finish would help it I could only paint it>>>>>>>>>Any suggestion on how to refinished the rifle or is my friend right and you cannot refinished it. I've tried every type of stain I could find on birch stocks to try and make them not look blonde. I've even burned streaks into one with a propane torch. That one turned out Ok but was more work than it was worth. Best way to finish one is to remove all the varnish then mask it off and paint it with the paint they make for car trunks, it's a charcoal/white spatter finish that looks like a fiberglass stock. I usually topcoat this with Krylon clear plastic as an extra sealcoat. Don't sand the wood smooth like you would for an oil finish, leave it rough say 80 grit. That gives the paint a good grip and they hold up to hard knocks really well and are easy to touch up.

If the bbl has no SAVAGE on it, it may be a aftermarket bbl, or refinished and the bbl address is gone, or it was a replacement bbl in which someone installed for the owner
if you have a serial number I can tell you when it was made, you can leave the last 3 number with XXX
