If I were to choose an affordably priced shotgun for hunting and the action was not an issue, I'd choose the Benelli Nova. This week I saw a Benelli Nova 26" that was in the local shop. The owner had a cheap 3" Kent brand shell squib in the barrel. The owner fired another shell behind it with NO DAMAGE TO THE SHOTGUN! It was in the shop to clear out the mangled brass, powder and wad(s) from the barrrel. The shotgun was detail stripped before my eyes and had NO DAMAGE WHASOEVER. The Benelli Nova is a pump shotgun. It comes with a set of chokes and can be had in black or camo for around $350.00. Dicks Sporting Goods sells them.

I can honestly say that if the Benelli Nova owner had this incident happen with a Remington 870, he may not have a hand or arm at this time!
