i have read that German MG-15 mags will work, after a little filing on the catch lug.

Those butcher jobs are proof positive that some folks shouldn't have access to hacksaws and Dremel Tools.
Some good historical guns were ruined.

I'm not against a well done sporterized Mauser or Mosin - there were millions produced, and some are in bad enough condition that a good rework is a fine idea. But there aren't that many Hakims left. Maybe with a new stock, it could be restored?

A person doing such a freakish conversion would be wise to keep the original stock and build his new one himself, if he's so gifted in mad gun science. Maybe the seller did that. I should sure hope so.

I honestly once considered such a thing long ago, but was given phony ballistic data for 8mm that made it look far behind 308. If I'd known how powerful it was, before learning to appreciate classics... Oh dear. Still think I'd have made the stock myself, not chopped anything.

In my early days of Frankengunning, I thought the metal was sacrosanct, that one small alteration and it would blow. It was sacrosanct. Also thought stocks had to be perfectly fitted or they'd break. I guess such respect is good to have until one learns more accurately. Better than cutting before you know how.

Dr Frankengun, I guess that I am the only one that likes the look of the conversion, it apeales to my slightly warped view of the world. With a little"Polish" and some time it would look even better. but you all are right about the second one, boy what a "cobble-up" and some should be supervised when working with tools.
