I use a plug in my Glock 22, no problems. Actually it helps. Wearing the gun while on duty and on duty on a bike, it helps keep the gun cleaner.

Kabooms are caused by bad ammo. A little kaboom, you get a split casing and maybe a broken magazine disconnect, a big kaboom and you have a pistol in three pieces. Not just in Glocks, but in any handgun. I've seen a Ruger Redhawk that Kaboomed, the top strap was blown off
