| Member | Sig 220 Stainless Slide Lock Hi I just purchased a new Sig 220 Stainless. It really shoots well with one exception. When the magazine is empty the slide will not lock back. If I take the mag apart and stretch the spring somewhat the slide lock will work until the mag is loaded. Then the slide lock will work maybe once, then quit again. It seems like the feeder in the mag doesn't push the slide catch lever up enough to engage the slide. Anyone else have this kind of problem and know of a solution? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes these parts can be slightly out of tolerance, causing problems in a part like a slide lock. Sigarms should fix it without any hassle. If you know a Sig armorer, the part is a breeze to replace.

| Administrator ![]() | NC Shooter, I finally found a used Sig 220 ST with the old Sig rail and Siglites for sale at a great price. It might be as fine a pistol as I have ever shot in .45ACP... right there with my favorite 1911 Colt. Great trigger, extremely accurate, every round despite velocity or bullet weight was always to the point of aim. Cor-bon +p's were like .38 wadcutters due to the recoil- reducing steel frame. I love shooting this pistol! I'm glad broke down and purchased it! I used the two 8 round stainless Sig mags that came with the 220 ST as well as a Novak 8 round 220 mag and an old 8 round Sig police trade -in mag. All mags performed flawlessly.

Great to hear you found a nice 220 ST. Mine ended up back at Sig for warrenty work. The slide lock back problem ended up being the spring that holds the slide lock was too stiff and had to be replaced. Then in an IDPA match I had a lot of failure to feeds and double feeds. So back it went. Sig turned it around pretty quickly with a new extractor and so far only one failure to feed in about 200 rounds. Still don't trust the pistol fully yet, but I will give it some time before a decision is made to the ultimate disposition of the gun. It does shoot great and the extra weight helps with muzzle flip just wish I had faith in the gun.

| Super Moderator ![]() | I have had a 220 for about 8 years now without any failure of any sort -- the gun shoots flawlessly and I have Sig mags and Mecgars. Glad to hear Sig fixed yours withour question. Jesse I looked at a Sig 239 in 40 tonight what is your opinion of it compared to the full frames.

| Senior Member | I bought a 220 a little over a year ago. It was tricked up with Hogue grips and teflon coating. It is very nice to shoot if you have big hands. I've shot it out of the box against my dad's Custom Shop Kimber CDP .45 and it outshoots it. The only thing I don't like about it is the re is more slack in the trigger (in DA) than I am used to. I grew up on 1911's.

The Sig 239 9mm is the one I've shot the most. It was with me on the range about 3 months ago when I shot the H&K P7. The Sig 239 9mm hung right with the H&K P7 as far as accuracy and grouping to the point of aim, which suprised me. The 239 9mm has a factory tactical 10 round magazine that works like a charm. I have fired Cor-Bon 115+p and 125+p JHP, Speer Gold Dot 124gr. +p JHP, and Winchester 115 White Box JHP through the 239 9mm. It has never jammed,( ftf, ftf, or fte). It is my personal choice of the 239's due to it's larger standard capacity (8) and the 10 round tactical mags which can be used as reloads. Mine is box stock with no modifications and it even retains the factory sights. It shoots so well I was afraid to change them to tritiums.
