As a side note, a little bird told me that my FIL was seen shooting a new looking German styled side folder Monday I think he got the itch when he worked on my rifle!

I'll probably be having supper with him this Sunday, maybe he bought it and I'll get to play with it!

^ Good bones there, I wish my FIL (or anyone for that matter) would take an interest in my hobby and join me... but alas, i am out in the cow pasture all by my lonesome

btw - would RIT work in dying that material?

I've had INCREDIBLE success with RIT and polyester cotton blend Carhartt jackets. . . .hmmm. . . it just MIGHT do the trick!

It's cheap enough! I'm going to test it on the little 'grip strips' that came with the pistol grip sleeve!

GREAT IDEA! THANKS!

EDIT: My FIL has a gun collection that makes me swoon. He only has one assault rifle though, an SKS (trap door style, nice rifle). Most of his guns are antiques or collectibles, anything he gets a bargain on or someone trades to him for some work. He just likes to play with them, but he's also of the mind that ONE DAY, the government will try to collect them. I've told him many times he needed an AK, if that was the case.

He got a 10/60. Tapco side folder. Seems sturdier than other Romanians I've handled. Perhaps it's the coating and the ridged dust cover. I like it. Can't wait to get out with him and shoot them both.

Check with some of the body shops around your area. The dyes that they use for coloring a vinyl dash pad, door panel, or arm rest might successfully color it.

Tac rail wiggles a little. I realize now that I should have filed a flat place on the fore-grip for the rail to sit on. Since the surface is curved, the rail wiggles. I'll leave it as is until the screws pull out (They'll have to before I can do anything about it. I epoxied them in!), give me time to get her to the range be sure I want to permanently mark up the hand-guard with a file.

Rail wiggled too much. The bolts came back out just fine. I'm gonna get some proper nuts and tighten it down good, and then see what's what. Hopefully, I'll have pics soon.

Well, I couldn't help myself. I went to the hardware store and got some bolts, nuts, and a file set and here's the result:

It's rock solid. If I torque on it I can wiggle the handguard a LITTLE, but it' takes some effort. It's more than good enough. I love it.

Actually, it was as we were getting on the boat to go deep-sea fishing, but I made the same face once the FSB and the MAK were one.
