Blond wood +stripper (if needed) +light sanding with sandpaper+black enamel paint=one mean looking gun.

Although, I kinda like the idea of Papa of doing the torch thing. Might have to try that on something.

Joe, if you decide to go the way of the synthetic stock, I highly recommend the K-Var stocks that are 1-1/2" longer than the European ones. Bought one at the gun show here last time around and really like it. Plus, if you mount a scope on the side rail, you can get the proper cheek weld...
