Too harsh on TAPCO?

Ok, so good friend of mine just converted a Saiga 12 with a TAPCO telescoping stock with the SAW grip.

I gotta say. . . I really like it. . .

It feels solid, more solid than the old TAPCO fixed stock I used to have. Is this a new development in quality, or have I been missing this for years, or will this thing break the first range trip?

you've been missing out. I have the tapco stock for my SKS and 10/22, both of which come with the SAW grip and a telescoping stock. They both feel very solid(not as solid as a solid wood stock of course) and I don't see them ever breaking unless I try breaching a door with them or something like that.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. LOL I have one on my Saiga 7.62x39 its not bad for what it is, but I still think there are better out there. If you want something until you can afford something better I'd say go for it.

My AK had this furniture on it when I bought it. Personally I did not care for it. I have since changed it out for a US Palm grip and Arsenal fixed synthetic stock.

Barry, if you are interested in the Tapco set for your rifle let me know.

There are some tapco producrts I lkie and some I don't.

Anyrthing with more 2 or more moving parts as a primary function I don't trust.

I'll also not own any of the forends without heat shields.

I like their standard fixed stocks, grips and Fusion(now called interfuze IIRC) forends with heat sheilds. Sill wish they'd offer a flat brown for their stuff.

Thanks for the input guys. With a little luck I'll be building a Saiga for a friend this spring. He's cheap, but want's quality. I see some Tapco fixed furniture in his future.

That is probably the most famous oxymoron of all.

The TAPCO parts work fine for the SAIGA conversions.

C'mon. It's a conversion to make a cheap comblock battle gun out of a PC version, produced simply for USSA import, of a more expensive cheap comblock battle gun. LOL

Well, at the same time, Saiga is quality. If it were mine I'd only have K-VAR or similar on it, but for cheap-o. . . He's not going to be hunting or fighting a battle with it. I'm thinking TAPCO.

Well i'm not enamored of what KVAR has sold at times in spite of the cost.

I don't like the fit of the top handguard cover on some rifles, looks cheesy. And the stocks tend to be too narrow along the comb for my taste. But then again they offer a NATO length while TAPCO's are all standard.

I can't wait until US Palm releases their stock I'm hoping for an improvment over both.

K-VAR is heavier (stronger), and I like the texture and colors better. I feel they are worth the cost difference, for any rifle you may have to fight for your life with. It's all Bulgy mil-spec. That's good enough for me. They aren't the only brand I would trust my life to, but they are my go to brand.

US Palm is making a stock? That's awesome. I really like their AK Battle Grip on my rifle. Do you have a link to it or anything? I just checked their website and didn't see it mentioned.

They might be it's not out yet.

All I'm hearing is development.

And as a bunch of stuff is being bandied about online I could be mistaken and it might be TWS. But that seems to make no sense as they do optixc rails. Trying to do a search for it but am coming up with needle in a haystack results.

You didn't test it with live ammunition in the chamber, did you?
