Did some checking out of the AK and SKS, and was surprised to find that in fact my Saiga Convert has a longer action than my SKS. I stuck a 35 Remington empty case in a mag and managed to feed it fine. It looks like if I managed to make use of the whole mag well, that means having the back of the mag flush with it instead of the protrusion on the back of AK mags. Meaning a 35 Remington AK is feasible with a new magazine and barrel. I thought perhaps a single stack WASR-10 would be a good subject, since the mags would have to be low cap and single stack anyway. Good, bad? And of course 357 Rem Mag has a similar base to 7.62x39mm, so it could be feasible too with a little less stretching. Perhaps in a 10rd mag interchangeable with my US subgun concept in pistol form?

I wonder how much it would cost to custom make and install a 35 Remington barrel in a WASR 10. Cause I was tempted by a Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Remington as well as a full length 7600 in 35 Whelen, but was deterred by the $500 price tag. I wonder if I could throw together a 35 Rem AK for less. $210 for the AK, $290 for the smithing? OK lathe, time to start working for me...

Think the 35 Rem one would be good for wild hogs and black bear? What about wolves? Perhaps with hi-cap LEO mags for serious game control up north, like wolves? Or is the 35 Rem not powerful enough?
