The forends pictured are all for the Saiga-12 shotgun. Making handguards for a Yugo AK would involve a new design which I'm trying to hold off on until I get set up in a new location. I'd be interested for sure in doing that in the future.

I would say though that a Zastava style grip like shown would be a good match for your incoming Yugo with the stock handguards.

Good news and not so bad news - All four grips sold overnight. Meaning there will definitely be more. Will see what hickory runs next time at the wood store, but I'd prefer to use what I have, which is oak and beech.

Beech is yellower and finer textured. Very hard, heavy, and finishes very VERY smooth. Oak is less smooth and less heavy, probably equally strong, or up there far above maple and birch, at least far as my experiences go.

Just checked out some hickory today, competitively priced with the others. May involve a mild special order fee but nothing crazy.

I'm friendly to the fixed stock variety. Not an underfolder fan myself. You might be happy with a specimen of each.

Glad to hear you like it! Would be happy to see pics of it installed. Checkering isn't something I'm set up for, so if you can add it yourself that would be sweet!

Discovered a really awesome new wood. It's a crossbreed called lyptus. Takes some technique to work with but turns out great.

The beginning of a no-gunsmithing solution for Saiga-12s to have AK style handguards.

Dragunov style (I mean really close to the real dragunov style) stock on a Saiga-223. This type of setup is sometimes called the Saiganov.

Guy wanted teak grips and had the wood, so I did s couple for him. Turned out real smooth.

The ultimate sporter stock for the unconverted Saiga.

Apparently there's this silly rumor that I don't make buttstocks. I'll have people know that I make big butts and do not lie.

And one of the nicest quasi-p-grip stocks I've ever had my hands on. Made from walnut and will end up with a buyer supplied limbsaver recoil pad.

For another militarization solution for Saigas, there's a Galil style handguard.
