Ya know the more I read here the more irritated I get at this rediculous &^%$#.

Very few of you post links or share information, just *&^%$$ opinions.

A PSL ain't a SVD or a Tigre. Just compare. But if you want to make believe, intrigue yourself but not the public who may want to learn something.

I have a PSL, I don't have a Tiger, I don't have the $7200 for a Tiger. The cost difference alone should tell you something.

If you want to ban me for not going along then feel free.

Wow Irish, I am lost as to where the heck that rant came from, did I miss something? Why didn't you just ask what your questions was, like, "Hey, (insert username here), where did you get that info? Are there any links to that info?"

You will find that few people here will simply make something up off the top of their heads, chill out man, sit back, open a beer and enjoy the holiday weekend!

The basis of the rant-

The original thread starter is correct, a PSL is not a SVD. I scanned this thread and basicly there are a dozen guys here who want to argue this truth, why? There are no comparisons between these two guns other than they are both chambered for the same round. You can stamp it, ingrave it, or label it anyway you want, it doesn't make it so.

This (AK47) forum is riddled with misinformation from top to bottom. For example- Saiga is NOT an AK, I've read this is several threads. This is a grave disservice to the public who stumble upon your forum.

That's just the problem - the importers, not just the dealers, are mislabeling them and forcing us to accept the wrong name for this rifle.

It's one thing to have a pistol named "Bob" and a rifle named "Bob". But to take a semi-auto Eastern-bloc skeletonized stock 7.62x54R sniper rifle with one name and give it the name of another rifle that looks similar but is completely different internally is just plain wrong.

Calling a PSL an AK would be more correct than calling it a Dragunov, because the PSL at least uses the AK design with different dimensions. Saigas are actually AK-100 pattern rifles that are built in a sporter config but still have much commonality with other AK rifles. The Dragunov is its own design entirely.

so the answer is yes very probably it would be recognized as a dragunov in a court of law.
but according to collectors that is the wrong nomenclature.

Not just crusty crufflers would object to using the term Dragunov for the Romanian PSL. It's more like calling a Geo Metro a Yugo. Tiny hatchback with low power engine, but NOT the same thing in many important ways.

Picture Hummer coming out with a two door short wheelbase open top off road vehicle and calling it a Wrangler. That's the kind of deceptive mislabeling that happened to the PSL.
