Originally I had some Dragunov Mags they did not work. The FPK I mentioned in my original post does not work with any other mags but the Romanian Mags with the X on the side. I had feeding problems or just plain fitment problems. I bought more Romanian mags for my FPK and they functioned as they were supposed to. Most of if not all of the time I have no idea what I am talking about, but when it comes to the firearms I own I take special care in the accessories I use, and field strip them and clean them after I am finished shooting them.
I realize that the rifle was assembled in Tenessee on a Romanian reciever, I do not know what the problem is but this is the quirkiest rifle I have owned.

Irish | Didn't BRG3 have a big thread about this. The term AK denotes any type of rifle based off of the AK-47 weapon system. Saiga's are sporterized AK-100 series, which are based off of AKM>AK-47's. I will concede that since you can swap parts from one AKM to most any other, save some shortened versions, that this is probably why the term is used so loosely. Internal parts from an AKM will not fit in a SAIGA.
This isn't to the extent that PSL's get called Drag's though. A PSL is truly it's own weapon, and SVD is also it's own weapon, similar but different.

Thank you | I have one for sale if you are interested. If you don't find what you are looking for at the other website. I bought one online, thinking it would fit my AES-10, but instead of being for a stamped AKM receiver, it is the one for the PSL. I havn't touched it since I opened it a few days ago, but it does look like someone was trying to "fix" it to fit an AK. I'm guessing it will still work fine for a PSL though, but there is simply TOO MUCH wood on it to work inside of an AK receiver. I only paid $25 bucks for it with shipping and everything and will happily sell it for the same price. PM me if you are interested.
Take care,
Ben.

I just bought a PSL A few days ago from gunbroker.(beautiful rifle). The dealer was advertising it as a Dragonov but it is a completely different design. The PSL is a Dragonov styled rifle but not a true Dragonov. The parts won't interchange. Also, the only countries that made the PSL are Romania,China, and Iran.

Thank you for this thread! PSL's are great rifles but soo many buyers are mislead thinking they are getting a great deal on a dragunov or on dragunov accessories when it is really a PSL that looks similar but is a completely different operating system. If you search Dragunov on gunbroker.com most of the items that come up r a PSL or for a PSL listed under dragunov. especially the magazines they charge more for a PSL magazine and list it under dragunov and some poor guy pays for it thinking it will fit his dragunov, tiger, or ndm just to get it and it won't fit. Then the seller claims they didn't know. I call bs!

oh ya and these ARE legal in california. Im permitted to live in the Peoples republic of kaliforniastan and all you gotta do is have a padlock installed on the magazine so in order to take out the mag you gotta use a little tool. I just picked up a FPK 2 weeks ago. WHen i bought it, it had the paddlock on it (gun shows have PSL's) Either that or fill the thumb hole stock..
