SAR-1 red dot adjustment

So I have a SAR-1 that I bought a dual rail mount for and put a red dot on it. The mount has no adjustments to it what-so-ever. I like that about it, but the red dot is now adjusted all the way up, and at 50 yds I have to aim at the very bottom of the target to hit the bulls. It holds a nice group, just a foot high at 50 yds. Any suggestions? I thought about grinding some, but I don't want to gring on those dove-tail things that clamp on there...

Should I try to bend it up some?

Bend ???? I don't think so ! You really didn't supply enough info as to EXACTLY what you Have...(red Dot ?Laser? Holographic?) so all I can say in guessing is try to shim up the front
to bring the sight point up .

It's a red dot... I don't know how else to say it. Not a laser. 30mm tube, 1x magnification, puts a little red dot on the lens that you see when looking through it...

It's 2 different pieces. One is the mount that clamps on the rail, and the other is the red dot that goes on the mount. I'm wondering if I can bend the mount back a little. I need the dot to move up, therefore the back has to go down and the front come up. I'm just trying to figure out if that rail has any way to adjust it, or what I can do...

Hmmm... Is yours mounted on the slide rail on the left side of the receiver? or do you have a different mount system such as a rear cover mount ? Is there a way to shim the front of the scope between it and the mount that attaches to the rail or is it a dovetail mount ? Is the Mount steel or aluminum
from the gun to the Rail ? I know I ask a lot but without pictures it is hard to see from what you are writing since there are lots of different models, mounts, etc.

It's the standard side-rail mount on the SAR-1.

This is the mount...

Then it's just a standard red-dot on the top of it. It seems pretty solid, I just need it to adjust up more.

Well, If it were mine I would re machine the slide area of that aluminum mount where it mounts to the Rail on the receiver, at a slight angle to bring the dot up since it secures with locking screws to the side rail that may not have been installed true with the barrel ! There may be a way of shimming it in this same area, Hope this gives you some Ideas !
I wouldnt try to bend that machined aircraft aluminum as it may be tempered and it can fracture !

Before you go grinding on the scope mount, you may want to try a different approach first. Loosen up those set screws till you have a little play, and then retighten the forward setscrew first and as tight as you dare. Then the center screw but just a little less tightly than the first screw. And finally the rearmost set screw. Just not as tight as the second setscrew. This should allow the mount to have a slight “nose up” cant. And that might get you back on target.
