A couple Saiga details

Per an inquiry in another thread, here's a quick rundown on Saiga magazine details.

7.62x39mm and 223 - factory 10rd mag, but with the addition of a feed-ramp and modification of mag catch they can be made to use military magazines. The 7.62x39mm ones are pretty much standard accross the board, the 223 ones are all a little bit different and may require additional modification to the rifle and/or mags.

308 - factory 8rd mag. Hi-cap mag options are all in the realm of WECSOG (Wylie E Coyote School Of Gunsmithing), that individual modifications. I have an adaptor system in development that requires an additional part, a bit of modification to the rifle, and minor modification to each G3 mag.

12ga - 5rd standard, 2rd also available. 8rd mags are out there but very high in price. Stamped steel and polymer mags in 10rd capacity are under development.

20ga - 5rd standard, 10rd is out there in the same rarity as the 8rd 12ga.

410ga - 4rd standard, 10rd is out there. Some clear models are also out there but near impossible to find in the US.

I was really thinking about getting one in .308. I have heard a lot of good things about them and the price is right. The only thing is that they only hold 8 rounds and what if there are 20 zombies! They are a decent accurate gun though??

Let me get this right, they also make affordable 12ga semi-autos. Now we're talking!

What would be a good price for one in .308 or even 12ga.

After looking on Gunbroker, a Saiga .308 runs like $350-$400, or atleast the ones on there.

I have the Saiga AK Sporter in 7.62X39 and I just finished adding feed Ramps to 2-30 rnd. Standard AK Mags...worked like a dream. I did have to file a little off the Mag Catch as it was too tight but Now the Mags lock up and Release perfectly ! Sure beats having to use A Bill Clinton Mag(5rnd)!

My suggestion would be to add a feedramp to the rifle instead, and be able to use any AK mag, including drums, without any more modifications. I also recommend the pistol grip conversion with US made FCG, makes a great rifle even greater.
