Finally!!!

So, is this a modification you did to a .308 or something in production that's almost impossible to find? (Checked Gunbroker).

It's the new Saiga-100 imported from Russia by RAA.

Thanks much BRG3! For those that want a direct link: Russian - American Armory Company

I just wish I could get a bead on the actual cost. Can't find it anywhere.

You can get them for $399 from Armsofamerica. Add shipping and dealer transfer fee and there'ws your price.

Hey BRG3, are you going to be making up some of that gorgeous funiture for this new .30-06 saiga like you did for the -12 and others?

For those unaware of what I'm talking about: http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/sal...ting-edge.html

No, not at all. Never. Not one little piece. All other Saigas get all the wooden furniture they want, but the most classically styled Saiga yet will get no wooden furniture, ESPECIALLY not anything that brings it closer to the style of its Saiga bretheren.

In other words, yes, absolutely! In fact I have the prototype set started already, have a detail or two to change before nailing the pattern down.

Out-F'ing-standing, BRG3!

I can't wait to see what you come up with, as the finger-grooved pistol grips, semi-pistol grip stock, and 'druganov SVD' stock were all beautiful works of art.

I'd just as soon have a standard Dragunov or a variant. While it's not a true AK, it's close enough for me.

Less than 2 weeks and the Saiga-100 now has a wooden stock option.

*Stands and applauds* Looks beautiful BRG3.
You're making it harder and harder not to buy one of those. *looks around* [whisper] congrats. ;-)

Unfortunately, I can't see the larger pic because I'm not a member of the saiga-12 forums.

I'd rather have a B.A.R.

Yeah, but I challenge you to find and post a link to a new .30-06 BAR for $399 or less + shipping.

Is this Browning's BAR sporting rifle or the original 1918 BAR? The former are $700ish and not built on the rugged AK action. The latter are $4k in semi-auto form.

I was referring to the 1918A3 from Ohio Ordnance. Not the sporting rifle. I wish I had gotten it about 5 years ago when I had the cash. The price has only gone up since then. Of course I would love an original fully auto version, but this is the closest I'm likely to get.

I too would love to have a BAR. But I doubt it will ever fit in my budget. The Saiga-100 could certainly take its fair share of rapid fire though, and with the wooden furniture it feels more like the beastly, tough rifle that it is.

Since you have one, BRG3, maybe you can answer this question I have: Is it a 3 round magazine like the Mosin Nagant is a 5 round magazine or is it a 3+1 magazine, where you can chamber a round, have it on safe, remove the mag, add a round, and reinsert the mag? Just curious, since 3 rounds is rather low for a capacity, but it's .30-06, so it's hard to complain. ;-)

Here's to hoping for 10 and 20 round mags for it....

It's 3+1 capacity. That's plenty for the hunting it was designed for. For more capacity, we need innovation, and no one should have the monopoly, that is everyone should be looking to figure out something new as long as it's done safely.

ehh I wouldnt I'm not knockin the saiga but ehhhhh just not my thing man. I would love to see a more reliable and slightly heavier AR-15 design chambered in aught six. I think that would be awsome but ehhhh its only a dream right.
