Smile Can someone explain this to me.

I don't get it, I've noticed that on some sites that sell AKs it says they can't sell to NY,mean while the local gun store sells them. I think Im missing something here. Can someone explain the point of this. Thanks.

Mostly, they don't like dealing with certain laws. I believe there is still some sort of restriction in New York. Not sure how it works. However, some people prefer not to deal with it and so as general rule choose not to deal with it. It goes with C&R as well. I can't quote the specifics. However, in the ATF's State Laws and Published Ordinances-Firearms 26th Edition there is a good 20 pages devoted to gun laws in New York. I'm not sure if you can reference it on the net. However, you can get it free by requesting it through the ATF. Again, I'm not exactly sure of what but have read that most from out of the state of New York don't like to deal with it, just like most don't like to deal with it in California too. More headaches, nobody likes them.

Basically... when the 1994 awb went away... NYS still kept most if not all of the provisions of it in effect. So, the whole "flash suppressor, folding stock, bayonet lug, yada, yada, yada" still applies in NY unless you are law enforcement. That's my understanding. If I'm wrong, please somebody correct me.

It's sort of like dating a local ho. Your family sort of has to accept her even if they want to puke. On the other hand, if you try to import a ho from LA, well, you are in some serious trouble, Capice?

Right now under federal law you can buy an AK with all sorts of restricted features that are not allowed in NY. An AK shipped to NY would have to be brought into compliance with the extinct AWB that is preserved in NY.

An AK without threaded muzzle or flash hider, without bay log, and without folding stock would be legal in NY.
