Anyone know how much an I-beam weighs?

you would have to figure out how thick the beam is and how wide it is .they all are diferent sizes. but they are heavy.

Steel workers actualy gauge how strong an I-beam is by how much it ways by the foot. There isnt a set weight if its large you could be looking at 20 pounds per foot.

your correct meatloaf when i wass building cranes and rigs and offshore platforms we would use some huge I beamsand when we would role them over they would make little minni earth quakes when they hit the ground they was so heavy.some was 4' to 5' high and 2'wideand 3"thick you had to sit there with a torch and preheat them just to get a good cut. then even after that you still didn't get that good of a cut and the helper had to grind it nice and flat.when i seen the world trade center colapse and them guys were out there cutting i said to myself man they cot some work ahead of them.it was fun welding them beams together though.kinda brings back memories of work.i ran across avideo the other day on utube and it reminded me of going to work of how it used to be like i'll try and find it i think i saved it. it was so peacfull flying out in the mornin on the chopper and flying through the clouds it was like flying through mountainsand then when it would be foggy you could feel the chopper dropping then all of a sudden a hellopad would appear out of the fog in the middle of the gulf and bam you was at work . i would go out there to repair cranes (welding/fitting)here's the video.

hmm, offshore. definately not for me. I guess I'm looking at about 200 pounds of steel in the 6' I beam.

tommy I loved it !!!! That was totaly made in the U.S.A. !!!! I bet that made you tear up a bit when you first saw that video ! And the Neil Young song was very befitting to the video...that even brought back very fond memories for me. i wish they would let me work on the meds i take . i would try to do something out there. but i ama walking liabilty case no company will let me even walk in thier yard.it's sad too cause i know alot about the oilfied fabrication stuff.i been out there setting up platforms in the roughest weather (that ain't no fun)and i been out there workin the boats. i been out there workin on the cranes .i done made my way around to all the fields of the oil filed from working on the drilling rigs as a mud logger to building the drilling rigs to building the boats to working on the boats as a deckhand.then i got hurt and that ended it all.and yes that video did almost tear me up. i looked at it to many times.

Well, if it is 200lbs and it does go for $0.15/lb, then you're looking at $30 of steel.

Ten more of those and you could pick yourself up a Romanian WASR-10.

I bought a Neil Young CD while my wife and I were in Monroe, La yesterday for $19.95 after listening to it there were only 3 songs of the 16 on the CD worth a crap...My wife said why did you waist your money on that, I was already regreting buying it and thinking shhhhhhh'es I could of put that money towards the scope I want to by for my 22 magnum rifle...A.H

if you wanted the song you should have let me know i could have downloaded it and sent it to you. just give me a list of the songs you want and pm me your email adress and i'll see what i can do. yea i miss building stuff and being able to work . i used to remembr flying out on a foggy mornin when the choppers would start to take off how the condensation would make a circle around the blades it was a wierd sight.

It's a good thing I also found hundreds of steel and aluminum rims.
One problem though, the tires are still on them so I need a clever way to get them off.(without burning them)

i done the smartes thing i invested in a sawsall. it cuts right through them tires. i scrapped a few of them rims they bring in a few bucks . right now they are 52 cents a pound down here.remember to take the valve stem out and any wheel balnce weights. but a sawsall will save your life.i got one at sears with a 2 year warranty on it i already retured it one time and got a new one .this is my 3rd saws all so wheni came across the 2 year warranty i jumped on it.my son likes it because he can chop it up realy quik adn me if i'm on the trail or in the yard i don't have to use a saw i can use this it's alot better and quiker.

but them rims are probablyabout 4 bucks a piece maybe 3 depending on how heavy.

Hey tommy, how do you like that Kel Tec Sub 2K? I've been considering getting one in Glock .40S&W to match my G27.

Oh, and yes, I realize the G27 mags won't fit... but I have G22 mags as spares. Never hurts to have a 15rdr backing up the 10 you have in the gun.

that little keltec is a sweat gun i love it. it takes the same mags as my glock17 and as for the black ak47 thats wood.lol i painted it . hear is a updated picture of it without the paint . i just recently redone it .it's the one in the middle. and as for the saw you won't regret getting one .and your hands will thank you.lol
