| WASR 10 prices. Howdy everybody, I just wanted to know how much I should be spending on a WASR-10. My favorite shope here-bouts has them for $409! AIM surplus has them for $319. Does anyone find this to be a ridiculous mark up, or am I just being cheap?Just so you all know what I'm aiming at here, this will be my SHTF go-to. It's the most inexpensive hi-cap ption I've found and is a good companion to my SKS. Please read "inexpensive" as "I'm a little panicked about the state of the world right now and want another tool at my disposal NOW". But then again, if anyone has any other ideas for my "home security system" please chime in. |

| at a local gun store i saw a wasr 10 with a dragunov stock for $265 at a local gun store i saw a WASR 10 with a Dragunov stock for $265 but i didn't really look at them I didn't get a chance to check the quality of them.. but they must've been good because they sold out if you're going to spend up to $400 you can probably get something better than a WASR 10 Last edited by FutureMarine9; 08-21-2007 at 12:11 PM. | Classic Arms Inc. <-- WASR-10's for $289 + shipping + local transfer fee; half-way down the page. They have the military version with the bayo-lug and bayonet for $319.

| Haven't handled one myself, but these are the lowest-grade out there. The fit and finish is pretty poor and sometimes the double-stack mags (in the milled-out single-stack receivers) wobble, but for the most part, it sounds like they mostly go "bang" when you pull the trigger.

| Senior Member | So what do you think, Chinese, Russian? I want something good quailty. I have a BEAUTIFUL Norinco numbers matching milled sks paratrooper Military made detachable mags from the factory, It is so close to an ak its unreal, But I don't fire it like one. Basically I want something like that, except made to blow through 300 rounds. |

| If you just want something that throws lead and is a hoot to shoot, there's certainly nothing wrong with the RomAKs. I'd give this thread a good 12-24 hours before deciding there SS, so that you can get the opinions of those who actually own the firearm. I believe Billy may have one.... not 100% sure, though. I know he has a purdy Saiga .308.

| Senior Member | Yea that thing is a work of art he has. I want an AR10 just wish 308 wasn't so high dollar. For now I'll just have to buy my Ar15 lower before they are illegal to buy or just so damn hard to get they might as well be. You've inspired me to take a couple of pics of my Simonov now and maybe post em up. |

| $409 is too much. the store closest to me has them for the same, but I got mine at a gun show for $250 new a few years ago. I would not pay over $375 personally, but all AKs have gotten to become absurd is pricing.

| Romanian AK's are awesome if you just want to blow thru ammo like there is no tomorrow. My friend had one and we used to go out all the time and just let em rip. You literally can expend every shell in the ten rnd magazine before the first spent casing hits the ground!!! We tried with the 30 round and got pretty close. He never had a problem with his and I know we atleast ran 1000rnds thru it. Just keep it cleaned and oiled and it should last along time. |

| Thanks again to everyone for chiming in. I'm definitely going to get one from either Centerfire or Aim as soon as I can get with an FFL that'll do the transfer for me. Now the only question is, do I go with the more common 7.62, or do i opt for the 5.45? ![]() |

First, YOU cannot buy an AK from Aim unless YOU have a class 01 FFL..(an AK does NOT qualify for a C&R license) .To have a class 01 FFL you have to spend a small fortune to get your license (zoning, storage, insurence, building, etc.) and that rifle is not shipped free from aim. Most gun dealers end up with a 5 to 10% profit margin IF THEY ARE LUCKY. This is why so many small gun stores are closing up and going away. Cheap? hell yes..and that attitude is helping shut down the gun business in america....a LOT faster than anti-gun laws. If I do a gun show, I am lucky to clear a hundred bucks for working the whole weekend, busting my behind loading and unloading, and driving to hell and back, and many times I don't even clear that. I have to pay sales tax on anything I sell, but the clown at the next table illegally selling old milsurps with a c&r thinks he does not, so the customers get po'ed when I charge them tax. Yep, I am getting rich on gun sales. and I specialize in AK's and handguns. (I sell new wasr-10's for $410 at shows) It won't be the liberals who end up taking away our guns, it will be the economics of the gun business and people who cry because they think all us gun dealers are getting rich. If you paid what that rifle SHOULD be marked up to (if it was anything besides a gun), you would be shelling our more like $550.00 or $600.00 I don't mean to flame (and I apologize if it seems like I am), but consider the real costs of something before you start asking if it is over priced.

| ruger22com Please no offense but if say Aim sells an Item at a certain price lower than you can, It's not the consumers fault...If you go through what you described to get to and set up at a gun show then you too need to find different products to sell. Shucks feller Don't blame anyone here for being cheap, It's only right to shop for the best possible price. Bless you feller...A.H |
