| Senior Member | What do I need to do to put a muzzel break on my Romak 2
I just got a really nice romak 2 ak 74 variant, in 5.45x39. Shoots great and looks pretty sweet. It has that dragonov stock on it though, and a small sleeve tacked on the muzzle. I'd like to have it taken off and have a proper break put on, but am not sure what I need to do to the rifle first. I know I will probably need compliance parts, but which ones. I know the stock and grip have to be U.S made, and a U.S. trigger group and piston, but is there anything else I need to to so I can do the muzzle break? Also, is it possible to find a bolt carrier/charging handle that is not slanted up?

A Dremel tool with a thin wheel will do a neat job.

There seems to be some CONFUSION with the Compliance laws on here, so I will try to clarify some things... #1. If you have a Complete Gun that is sold in the U.S. Now such as an AK-47, Mak 90, Saiga etc. it is Already Compliant with section 922 Laws. You can then Add ANY U.S. Made part to that gun and remain Compliant with the Laws. If you add a U.S. Made Slant Brake to the front, That is ALL you have to add, Nothing else.. Dealers / Distibutors CANNOT sell guns that are NOT ALREADY Compliant...BATFE would shut them down so fast, it would scare you... #2. IF you assemble a GUN yourself from an imported Parts kit by purchasing a U.S. Made Receiver, Then, you have to ADD a certain number of U.S. Made parts to be Compliant with Section 922 Laws , Since assembly with all the foreign Parts would violate that law... Different Gun Parts Kits require different amounts of Compliance parts to be legal...An AK is Different from an FN/FAL, different from a CETME, etc.... So it boils down to adding U.S. Made parts ONLY to your current rifles to remain "Compliant"...don't add foreign components...They should be marked Made in U.S.A. , or U.S.A....or similar. Rich

Ok, that seems reasonable. But, when I bought it they told me that to put a muzzle break on it, I have to get the compliance parts first. So why would they say that? This is really confusing.

I dont Know...BATFE addresses only adding Foreign made parts, Or ASSEMBLING a prohibited weapon in 922...The U.S. Made parts are acceptable, So if you add a U.S. Made Brake, No problem.

A mac-90,for example was sold here with out a threaded barrel,if you want to add American parts,OK,but to thread the barrel is not adding parts,to do that one must add the number of American parts specified to make it an "American gun",then thread the barrel and add the muzzle brake/flash hider. A pain isn't it?
