Hit paydirt today. My dealer got my order in from Classic Arms. Sorry the pictures are pretty poor, but here's what your looking at. 2 Romanians 1 Chrome Yugo "Me Likey" 1 Saiga 1 K31 1 Taurus 1911 Stainless 1 Springfield GI 1 SA XD 1 Glock 10MM Everything looks great so far. The chrome sidefolder is the prettiest by leaps and bounds. All have tapco triggers, and no magazine wobble. My only complaint so far is all the cosmoline. The crap is pretty nasty to put it mildly. What can i do to get it off??? Also how do you get the folding stock on the yugo to release??? I wish i could keep them all but the chrome yugo is my dads and the uglier of the two romanians is going to a guy that works with us. I had stopped in to see my dealer about the taurus 1911. Long story short he cut me a deal that i couldn't refuse on it and as soon as we were getting the paperwork finished up on the pistol the rest of the toys came in. Needless to say i'm having a fun night. Can't wait till tomorrow to fire them all. ![]() ![]() |

| I was worried about the pro mags being flimsy, but they seem very solid for a plastic. The chrome yugo is just awesome looking. I was worried it was going to be all shiney gangsta looking, but it really looks like polished stainless. My dad may never see that one. ![]() How about the cosmoline??? one of the metal magazines looks like it was dipped in a bucket of the goo. What works best to get the stuff off. |

I got to go shoot everything today except for the k-31 and the two Romanians are awesome. I was shooting short range just to test things out "25 Yards" and the romanians and saiga functioned flawlessly. I put several full magazines through each and not a single malfunction. This is only the second time i've ever shot an ak and i love it. The recoil is extremely mild and at short range they were quiet accurate. I can see using the Saiga for deer hunting. The trigger pull on the two Romanians was excellent with no slap. Now the bad news... The pretty Yugo underfolder is not working properly. I was able to chamber the round like normal, but it wouldn't eject what so ever. The bolt assembly never moved an inch. I'm guessing someting with the gas system isn't functioning. Hopefully i can get it fixed. My favorite so far is the 249.00 saiga. It's so cheap and seems to function exactly like the other ak's. The trigger is a bit odd, but i got used to it after a few rounds. All i need is a Hi-cap mag for it and i'm set. |

WOW, very nice assortment. You could always say they didn't come in yet? You know, if you've ever watched Seinfeld you can do what George did when they bought that gift for a friend, a massage chair, and George liked it so much he was using it and kept saying it hadn't been delivered yet. Just remember to not take it so far so they all back out on ya' and want there money back. lol Again, very, very nice assortment. Oh and to get the cosmo off you can simply use mineral spirits. It will not harm anything. Just remember that when you use it to get any cosmo off the wood, that after it drys to rub either boiled linseed oil into the wood or something else that will put the moisture that the mineral spirits took out back into it. And don't wait to long to do that because it can if left to long on the wood, crack it from drying it out too much. But seriously, the mineral spirits works quickly and is very easy to use. It evaporates as well. Lubricate thoroughly when done. Expect some cosmo to bleed out of areas when left at room termps. or higher as time goes.Eventually it will all be gone.Remember to use in a well ventilated area though. G-Meister

Thanks for the tip on the mineral spirit GM, I've got most of the cosmoline off, but i still haven't field stripped them to clean the internals. I bet it's going to be nasty from being shot. I just hate to field strip something before i shoot it. I always wonder if i messed something up or if it came that way. Like the Yugo for ex. ![]() Is that a saiga you got there on the top Knight Rider?? That's a nice collection of Ak's you have. I'm running out of corners to store my rifles in. I'm gonna have to take a weekend and convert one of my spare closets into a gun closet. I got to take them all to my inlawas house today. My FAL loves any old millitary stuff. They have real nice place out in the country so we went out back and shot them all. He really liked the ak's. He also brought out an old m1 carbine paratrooper. "Reallly nice rifle" His dad had given it to him and we shot it some also. We put another 100 rounds through the two Romanians and the saiga and none of them had a single malfunction. I'm in love with the ak's, heck my fiance enjoys them more them as much as i do. I got to keep an eye on her now.

so do you think there is a problem with the yugo aks because i was looking at getting one and if they aren't reliable i won't because thats part of the advantage to an ak...or maybe you just got a lemon?

I think the yugo will be fine, i imagine when they chromed it one of the gas tubes wasn't put on correctly or something of the sorts. Honestly, unless you want a beauty queen, i think the romanian Hgm that classic arms is selling is your best bet. It has a U.S made Hi Cap reciever unlike the wasr-10's which are lo cap converted to the hi cap mags which leads to magazine wobble. The romanians from classic also have the tapco g2 trigger which has no trigger slap. I haven't tested the accuracy of any of the rifles yet. I've mainly been playing around just making sure everything functions properly, but when just plaing around i havn't had any problems keeping all my shots in a 12" group from 30yards and thats just me playing around blasting away, which is good enough to stop someone i'm sure. Another option would be to buy a saiga which i feel is going to be a good bit more accurate than the romanians and convert it. All it really needs imo is a Tapco trigger and a 30rd magazine, and it would be bad ass and still cost just over 300.00. I plan on replacing the trigger in my saiga, purchasing a couple 30rd mags, and getting a scope put on it. "poor man deer rifle/assault rifle if need be" I called classic arms today and spoke to the sales lady. She went ahead and scheduled a pickup with ups to ship the yugo back to be repaired or replaced . So far classic arms gets a A++ I also ordered a 1,000rds of wolf soft point ammo last night from cabelas. I had a 20.00 coupon that expired last night i had been meaning to use. Stuff was a bit pricey i believe 250.00 to my door. Can you use the soft point stuff to hunt with "deer/hogs/possums" The HP and FMJ was on back order. My Saiga is a 7.62x39. You can get it in 223,308, and the shotgun flavors also. Center fire has some sweet deals on the 308 right now. I'm tempeted to get one for 299.00. Saiga IZ-137
.308 Rifle
Part #SAI-308 - SAI-308 308 ammo is pretty pricey to play with and i have a semi auto remington 308 to hunt with. Still would be a great rifle to own though.
