| My Idiot Status is Confirmed, Can Someone Help me Fix This?! Ok, I am officially an idiot. I somehow got my magazine stuck in my AK. I went to put the magazine back in place and put it in wrong. The back snapped into place with the front not even in the mag well and it can't be pushed in. Now the mag release won't release the back end of the magazine. Can someone help me shake it loose?

| Press the mag release forward as far as possible, then pull back and forth firmly on the mag. Watch your fingers. If this does not work post a picture so we can see the jam up. |

| +1. That should work if the front end of the magazine isn't even in the magwell. Though, I can't see how it would even be stuck in there if the front end isn't engaging the mag well at all.

| If by some way you got the front catch of the mag under the catch of the front trunion and the receiver, then you have to swear at it more. Im sure more ridicule is to follow for all of us born with one of these up our ass's that knows it all. My spelling sucks |

Let's see if this helps. Note: the gun is field stripped and the magazine had its guts removed because it was driving me crazy while I tried to fix that. ![]() ![]()

| I believe that is exactly what I did, actually. And if it is a matter of using elbow grease, I've used all the elbow grease I can muster. LOL! As for the ridicule, oh well, what else is new? I've come to expect nothing less of people.

| Pull the top of the mag toward the mag release getting the mag catch as far into the latch as possible and pull down as stated before. This might give you enough room to get it out. Even if it comes to it get something to tap the mag back. Hit the mag at the front on the lip, by the receiver. tap it back towards the mag catch. Use a small chunk of wood so as not to mar up the gun or mag. Again at the top of the mag, not the bottom Two and Ahalf Men is almost over. Is the mag out yet, my shows are on Last edited by cetmedog; 01-22-2008 at 06:22 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| Ah, I think I know what's going on now... The feed lips are what are catching on the front of the mag well as the mag catch is caught on the latch in the back. I'm thinking some "Russian" love on the TOP front of the magazine (e.g. going in from the top of the receiver) to pop the feed lips down far enough to clear the mag well might get it out. Now, if you look down there and there is way too much feed lip material to just "pop" out, it may be necessary to first try (I know you said you did, but use a hammer or some such) to get that mag latch forward while giving it top-pressure.

| That looks like a wasr with no dimples, like the one I had. The mag tended to jam if not put in just right. With practice it got easier, but you had to be careful to get the front catch engaged then carefully rock it in. I now have a wasr with the dimples,no problems, can't mess it up. ![]()

| Will the mag latch wiggle at all? Knock it forward if you can. It looks like it is biting into the mag catch stem Last edited by cetmedog; 01-22-2008 at 10:07 PM. |

| All I can say is the mag catch is bitten into the mag stem on the mag, and is wedged in the front of the receiver well. Knock the mag catch forward with a mallet, that is all I can tell you from here. You get that catch forward it will let the mag go. A new mag catch and pin are cheap but I think it will handle the hit. Just keep tapping the mag latch forward till it lets go. Good thing the aliens are not invading while the AKs down Last edited by cetmedog; 01-22-2008 at 10:50 PM. |

| Bummer Sucklead. I feel for ya' bud. Just remember that what ever you use, make sure it is either plastic or rubber. No metal, that will only result in damaging other parts and the finish if you miss. If you have to replace the mag. release lever, because there was no other way to get the mag. free, instead of beating it out or prying it out, I'd rather see you just try and remove the rivet/pin and maybe you can just replace that piece and still use your mag. release lever and spring? Just another option to consider. If it were me and my goof, and if I couldn't get it out by force, that quite honestly would be the route I'd take. But, that's me my friend. Good luck. G-Meister

| Super Moderator ![]() | Real Simple...Hit the front bottom of mag with a rubber mallet or chunk of wood..towards the rear...I can see the front lip so just drive the bottom back towards the butt and it will come loose !!! Rich
