Well not exactly. I am trying to replace the trigger group on a MAK-90. I have the double hook group from Tapco. The first thing the instructions say to do it rotate the selector switch to the 12:00 position and remove it. I can't rotate mine that far. It is hitting the disconnector. How do I get it out? I just saw AK-47.net that you have to grab the sheperds crook and pull it with a pair of needle nose. Does this mean I will have to replace the spring? It seems to bend it a lot. I also read on this site that I could get some c-clamps from an auto store and use them to hold the pins in place. Is this a good practice? Last edited by azgunnut01; 01-27-2008 at 08:25 PM. |

A slave pin is a short pin that is almost the same diameter as the Trigger pin. The slave is inserted to hold the trigger/sear/spring/assembly together, so that when you drop the trigger assy. in place as you insert the normal pin , it pushes the slave pin out! Viola.. I dont Think you need to remove the selector lever, as I recall, it has to be installed BEFORE you install the trigger assy...Lever should be all the way down. Oh and I use a large paper clip with a hook on it to pull the Shepherds crook spring while pushing on the large head of the pin to release pressure on the Shepherds crook...Do NOT Distort it. Rich

Tapco now has a sleeve so you can assemble the trigger group outside the gun then slide in in over the end of the trigger pin, neat. Check it out on Tapco on the net and you will see the pics also.

Thanks, my trigger group came with the slave pin. I appreciate all the advice you gave and I will attack it next weekend. I'll let you know how it goes. | |

According to"the book",you must first cock the gun then pull the trigger holding the hammer and let it all the way down before removing the spring.
