| The Chinese make highly regarded high quality AKs with excellent triggers, chrome lined heavier barrels, thicker stamped receivers ... probably the best AK you can get without going to a custom build. |

| The Chinese Polytechs (miled & stamped) are regarded as some of the best made AK's. They are highly sought after in their pre ban form. Getting a nice one for under $1,000 is a good deal.

| My dad paid about 900 for his about 3 years ago, It shoots great. He's one of those guys that collects and does'nt shoot them, because he has some physical issues, but he lets me shoot about everything he aquires. I have a rock river type AR and i have to say i like his AK Better. It is a really awesome piece. |

| Well I don't know anything about how much they cost, but I have a Chinese Poly Tech Ak. I can shoot out to 300 yards with good accuracy hitting a 5 gallon propane tank at that range. I need to get up closer and do some shooting with it to get some nice groups out of it. I've never had any problems that I can ever remember out of it, firing, feeding, ejecting, etc... and I've put upwards of 800 rds through it. |

| Not unless you're shooting incendiary or tracer rounds at it. Copper (i.e. the jacket) will not spark when it hits the steel container and you'll just get a *hisssss* as the propane leaks out. Even if you do shoot it with pyrotechnic rounds, it will only spew a gout of flame, since the gas has to escape before igniting (air/fuel ratio and all that). The container they make for propane is just too strong to "explode" under normal circumstances... now, if you hit it with something in the .50BMG range, you might get into the "dangerous" catagory. ![]()
