| how do I I.D. my AK? I recently acquired my AK at an auction... it is my 1st one... I'm not sure what kind it is though and am hoping you could help.... the only makings are a triangle followed by the year 1982... and the serial # S-AR4414. Can this info tell me anything? also, how would i know if these would work with mine? J&G Sales |

| You might try the internet and look up AK-47 markings.

| I'll try to get pics soon... from what I could find online it is starting to look Romanian... It's ugly, but its mine! hahaha stock is wood, has a pistol grip and the forearm is cut with a wood grip... no flash hider, stamped receiver, and I'll need to check for the bayonet lug. |

If so you have a pretty good AKM,not top drawer, but good. The serial number shows the import date. Mine says 1980S and has the threaded barrel, bayonet lug as it was before 1984.

I know the furniture is ugly.... what do you think? should I refinish it? or go with the black composite (looking @ tapco)? I'm torn. Also, I picked it up for $315... is that an ok price? | Yea, you got a good deal. It has the indention's to hold the mags in place - much better that the WASR-10's internal weld in plates. It is probably a SAR - not sure. Eastern European though for sure. Should be a fine AK. I don't think I would mess with a thing. They imported some that looked like this one and marketed them as "battlefield pick-up's" that was a euphemism for ugly. But utility has it's own beauty.
