308 FCG retaining wire

How in the name of GOD do you remove the retaining wire off of the 308. For some reason I cannot get my needle nose pliers in there to get it off. Do I have to remove slide it forward then drift the pin at the Hammer 1st? I am prepping for the installation of my new FCG freshly modified by Dinzagarms.com if any one has any step by steps with pix that would be great.

I use a large paper clip and bend a Hook in it...Reach in and pull up and over to release the pin...
