| Sighting in Saiga Thanks to you guys on G&G i was able to tighten up the mount on my saiga and i got a chance to go sight it in the other day. It took a while to get on paper but once on it came together pretty quick. It is definitely minute of bad guy @ 100 yards. I just ran across some pictures my fiancee took while I was shooting and she was sitting in the truck. I didn't even know she had the camera or i would have take some pictures of the targets. I wasn't getting as good of groups as i thought with the saiga about 3" so i pulled out my k-31 to make sure it wasn't me or my redneck bench. Sure enough all 3 shots with the k-31 were touching. I've gone through about 500rds of ammo with the saiga and not a single mistake. I brought my dads olympic arms ar with me and the damn thing wouldn't even chamber a round. It was having problems feeding so i broke it down and cleaned everything up and now it is double feeding like a mo-fo. That gun is casting doubts on getting a new ar15 I went to wal-mart today and bought a folding table so I'll finally have a 1/2 way decent bench to shoot from. Here's a pic of me shooting. The scope is a swift 3x9. Nothing fancy but nice enough. ![]() |

| Nice pic! I like how the scope looks on there. I'm hoping my mount and scope combo look as good on my AES-10. Yano, 3" at 100 yards is "poo-poo'd" by all the bench shooters and AR-guys as "inaccurate" but that'll do a head-shot or a heart-shot no problem. That's good enough for me!

I think I can get them down to 2" with some better ammo. Wolf goes bang every time, but the powder charges aren't the most consistent in the world. I'll take the AK over the AR. From my experience the AR is so freaking picky about ammo and being clean. The aks just go bang. | |

Plus, AK's are just so danged easy to break down and to clean! That's a big deal to me. I can't wait to scope my 23.5"-long barrel AES-10 to see just how accurate an AK with a long barrel can be. Admittedly, I only get 7/8" groups at 25 yards (didn't have any longer ranges here at the time) with my 91/30 ex-sniper, so I'm not that great of a shot, but I'll see what I can do. It should all be "together" in about a month when I get my scope back from Sportsman's Guide (manufacturer defect, they're replacing it for free).

| Well I got in my Silver bear and brown bear ammo in today. Looks like some pretty nice stuff. It is 124gr "I believe" Definitely lighter than the soft point Wolf i had been shooting which was in the 150's.. Before I went to go shoot my gun toaday with the new ammo, I first broke it down and gave it a good and proper cleaning. I also took off the scope to see if it held zero. When I got out to my land where i shoot It was already late and i had about 30 minutes to set up. ONce I got set up I filled the magazine and started blasting away. After the first magazine I noticed all my shots were grouped very nicely about 3-4" high above the center bullseye. I reloaded the magazine with 10 more rds adjusted my elevation down 3". I started shooting and i could see that my shots were at the same elevation as before but were landing about 3" to the right . I'm scratching my head now wondering what the hell is going on. The targets I use have two bulls eyes up top, one in the middle and two equally spaced on the bottom. I had been shooting at the center one and now my shots were hitting the upper right hand bullseye. So I adjust the windage back to the Left to try and counter what was goning on and lowered the elevation some more. This time I was aiming at the lower Left bullseye. I shot 5 rounds and they all wound up at the correct elevation but they were on the Lower right hand bullseye. Meaning they were about 12" off to the right. I adjusted the windage one last time and fired my last five shots. They all printed on the correct bullseye and were within 2.5" after measuring. I'm guessing I was out of windage adjustment. It seems to all be well now. I'm going to try and go shoot it again tomorrow. Hopefully everything is ok. It sure was shooting good at first, but was just alittle too high. |
