accuracy ?

How accurate should a scoped AK be at 50 yards. Mine is shooting four inch groups is that acceptable or do I need to get my money back and try another one?

4"' at 50 yds WITH a scope? That's not acceptable by my standards. 4" at 100yds w/ open sights would be about right.
What AK do you have & how is the scope mounted on it?

Thats what I was thinking. I'm a little new to Aks and wasen't sure what kind of accruacy to expect. Luckly the guy I got it from said he would buy it back and I know where theres another one for the same price.
I got the scope mount from Cheaperthandirt it mounts on the original scope rail.
Thanks for the reply.

Might be the mount, have you checked to see if it doesn't move while shooting?

The screws on the scope mount did loosen up the first time I tried it, but after retightening it still shot 4" groups and the mount stayed tight.

MHO, it's an AK, just use the iron sights.

I had a feeling. Anyway, why scope an AK?
If the mount is bolted to the rail that is riveted to the side of the reciever, that should be tight. If it doesn't come loose anymore as you've said then It's more than likely the rifle itself. It is a WASR, after all. Not the cream of the crop in AK's. Sell it back to him & get a better quality AK. You won't regret it.

My eye sight prevents me from useing open sights now days.I can't see the sights with my glasses on and can't see the target with them off.The scope is only 6 power.
I might try a red dot tho, I saw a 2 power one for $60.00 the other day.

Wink

I had a feeling the WASR crowd would have somehting to say to my post. It will go bang but it can't hold a candle to other, better built AK's that are out there. It has been my experience that with AK's, you get what you pay for.
I'll also take that Wasr vs. my SAM-5 challenge. Hell I'll use any of my Arsenal milled rifles or any of my Chicoms. Just for fun. I'll do it with my Yugo M92. It'll hold a nice group out to 200yds if I do my part.
Back on topic though. 4" groups at 50 yds is unacceptable with any rifle. Look for a yugo underfolder. They are in the same price range & accuracy is much better.

My eyes are'nt that great either but I get 6'' groups w/WASR10 and no scope. You pulling or sqweezing the trigger? Breathing right? WASRs are much more accurate than 4" groups at 50yrds.

Too many variables and none mentioned-

Shooting position, ammo used, muzzel device, shooters experience, quality of scope and mount, group size without scope.

I'd try different ammo and compare results. Did you place any controls on the rifle such as a shooting from a bag or vise?

A muzzel device not centered will throw off a round.

I have two target rifles that are scoped, both are zeroed in, they both bore me to tears. After punching the the same hole three or four times I'm done. I'm just not a precision shooter so they sit in their cases.

I took two rabits from my garden a couple of Sundays ago and of the more than 50 guns I had to choose from I chose my scope target pistol. Two rounds, two head shots, out about 25 yards, my hands rested on the handrail of my deck. Note I didn't grab an AK.

AKs serve one purpose, to kill and maim. Center mass is most likely a kill.

I own and shoot a few high quality AKs, VEPRs and milled SLRs. I also own a couple of WASRs, I don't knock them.

Forgot to mention-

If you're shooting with the slant brake, don't. Use a muzzel nut if nothing else. I'll bet your groups will tighen up.
