Aks home defence????...be very careful w/it. The bullet goes through assialent the wall behind him and hits one of your loved ones. Or if you shoot agianst concrete walls you round may come back on you or your loved ones. Use hollow points to help eliminate glances ricoshays. Shot guns are best for home defence.

Fella, someone sold you a bum steer.

If you can, by chance, find an old Norinco AK, jump all over it! These are milled steel receivers, are hell for stout, and are made VERY well indeed. As for the sights, I replaced the top handguard with an aftermarket that has a Picatinny rail mounted. Didn't cost quite as much as the Ultimak handguard, but still well worth it. I mounted a red dot sight, and the rifle will hold the X ring on a NRA pistol target (1.69 inches) for a full magazine, rapid fire, at 50 yards from a rest.

Irishman, those stocks are pretty! How much to make a set for me?

A great fun gun is a WSAR 10 they are just as accurate as a Yugo M-70 I have both. I guess a Norinco may shoot better but once you spend over $500.00 for a AK varient you are spending too much money for very little in returne. Any new AK over $500.00 and you are better off with a Ruger Mini 30. It is chambered in 7.62x39, the factory mag is only 5 rnds but you can get 20, and 30 rnd mags for it anywhere, you can get ammo. It does not have the AK "look, or cool factor", but very accurate. First time AK shooter I got to go with WSAR 10.

My theory is that most just plain don't know how to properly zero a WSAR 10, or adjust the rear sight for distance. That is where all the inaccurate WSAR 10 stories come from. Mis dos centavos.
