Nice looking Saiga! I dig the hk sights and tromix stock. Nice trigger guard set up too I almost went that route. Im going with the saigatechusa traditional though. also going to use the tapco standard ak stock and a tapco standard pistol grip. Mines going to look like the picture below, but with a saigatech trigger guard instead of reusing the factory trigger guard. Im kind of plain jane with my firearms and like them to look as stock as possible.

Nothing wrong with looking plain I got lots of rifle that would fit in to that description. However HK sights are absolutly wonderfull. I hit about 95% of the clay discs that are being thrown my way. We usually do 2 at the time. And with 20 round drum you hardly have to reload. |

I just finished purchasing items for my conversion. Including two 10 round promag magazines and a case for this firearm I spent about $240. I bought an E-Tac standard "Twisterpuc" which replaces the standard gas plug thing at the end of the gas piston. I needed another compliance part and this seemed like an upgrade instead of just a part replacement. Anyone have any experience with these?

Congrats on your Saiga 12. I got one a couple months ago. I also got extra 12 round magazines for it. I LOVE it. I consider it the ULTIMATE Zombie destroyer. LOL

My Saiga in en route and will be here by wednesday yay! I doubt ill have all my conversion parts, the trigger guard required me to send the guy a money order blah. Il scavenging my tapco stock and pistol grip off my gp1975 to put on my saiga, and im going all wood on my gp. Centerfire Systems, Inc. - Your Home For Ammo, Firearms, Magazines, and Gun Accessories has wood stock sets for $12 that have everything except the top half of the handguard, and I bought a top half off GB for $9. probably going to refinish the wood in a "russian red" cus I also bought the trigger set-up from them for my conversion which includes a very nice cherry red pistol grip, along with the FCG and a gas piston, all for $10. I have to say Im at a loss as to what type of varnish to use on gun stocks that wont be dissolved by gun cleaning solvents. This is rather embarassing due to me being in the commercial painting business for quite a few years. Ive never had to deal with a product meeting this requirement. Im thinking maybe 2 part 100% solids epoxy? Any feedback regarding this would be most welcome. Dont make me start a thread about this, ILL DO IT I FREAKIN SWEAR ILL DO IT! hehe kiddin. Theres probably a thread regarding this, I shouldnt be lazy and look.

| How about a simple TUNG OIL finish? It works fine on other guns.

| Thanks! It took me about 6 hours.Would have been less but I had to grind the trigger hook to clear the bolt carrier. I ground it a little much I think. If you pull the bolt carrier back slow when the hammer is up, the hammer catches and doesnt slide back to cock. If you do it relatively quick it doesnt catch at all so Im thinking when it fires it will work fine. I also tend to pull the bolt carrier back fast anyways. Ill probably grab another trigger and redo it regardless. I used a Romanian trigger and the stock disconnector and hammer. I can get another trigger from copes for $4.99 . Theres a gun show next weekend Ill probably find one there. You might want to go this route yourself. The disconnector is stepped on the back side to stop the safety from going up into the dust cover. I found this out the hard way after putting everything together with a Romanian disconnector and the safety lever went up too far. Putting the original disconnector back in solved that problem. The hammer is also shorter on one side to clear the BHO. I highly recommend using the BHO as you cant insert a loaded mag with the bolt closed. You will have fun getting everything together with the BHO. That was my biggest obstacle to overcome. Because of how the rails are inside the receiver theres like no room to maneuver the parts. Took me about an hour of fiddling with it to get them all situated right. I put the hammer in first then the trigger group. Put the pins in about halfway then put the retaining wire in. Then the safety lever followed by the BHO . Put the pin holding the hammer all the way thru then used fishing line to pull the BHO spring down while I pushed the trigger pin through. After that used needle nose pliers to get the retaining wire on the pins. Huge headache but its finished. The .223 was far easier to convert. Also, dont cut the line off the BHO spring til youre sure its all finished...

| I appreciate your concern. Im using ProMag magazines (3 USA Parts) a GoGun Twisterpuc gas piston cylinder (1 USA Part) a Tapco stock (1 USA Part) and a Tapco pistol grip (1 USA Part). voila 922r compliant. You dont need a USA made FCG to make your gun compliant and Id rather use military grade FCG parts. In my opinion the USA made FCG are over priced. I can get a FCG from centerfire for $10 thats superior to the USA made FCG that sells for $25-$50

Looking good diatribes. The Saiga only needs 4 parts for compliance.. you got that covered. I don't know what all the hype about trigger assy's is... I pull the trigger, it goes boom.. what more is there??? LOL. I don't have any issues with the trigger on my .410. I didn't do a full conversion on it tho, cause I like the ability to put it back to factory if I want. Tapco pistol grip stock worked fine for me. Enjoy it.. my next gun after the .300 weatherby is going to be a Saiga 12. |

I realize that after 30 years of shooting normal firearms, that you're probably fine, what I meant was After ONE DAY of shooting the Saiga 12 was your shoulder destroyed and purpled??? My ONLY complaint about these guns is their recoil!!! Blackjack buffer along with Shock absorbing collapseable stock can definately help, but a day of shooting one of these is a WHOLE DIFFERENT BALLGAME than shooting my Ithica model 37 for a whole day. A WHOLE LOT MORE FUN, but a whole lot more sore the next day too...
