| Senior Member | What's the Lightest and Heaviest grain bullet in a 9mm? Topic: I mostly want a heavier bullet but would like to stay with my 9mm. Just curious, I haven't seen any thing over 147gr. Is there? What is the lightest grain I can get in 9mm? |

| Moderator ![]() | There are several different manufacturers of light wieght "faster" bullets. Aguilla makes some of them. I don't know the specifics right off hand though. The heaviest I have seen is 147 gr though. But there may be heavier that I am not aware of. You start running into expansion problems though when you get heavier then 147. There were stories of 147's that were a little too heavy to achieve the velocity necessary to expand properly upon impact.

| Senior Member | Well I saw the 65gr at 1550fps, that's not to bad. I might have to try out those. I didn't know that about the 147gr bullets. I guess you would be hard pressed to find anything heavier unless you go to a bigger caliber. I know hardly nothing about hand loading. Something I am going to get into very soon I can tell. Especially with what I have in mind with my custom built 700 coming along... Like you said about expansion problems then what's the biggest and fastest you could go with hand loads on a 9mm? |
