Depends on your use.

In layman (me) terms, a 200 is a lighter bullet than a 230, which will make it faster but will have less takedown power. A 230gr FMJ was the standard military load and most mil-spec 1911 clones will feed & function most reliably out of the box with this load, so if this is for plinking in your 1911 45, go with the 230.

But if it is for short range shooting at metal targets, don't go with FMJ ammo at all - it can ricochet back.

The biggest difference would be the sighting. A fixed sight .45 is usually set up for 230gr bullets. As such the 200gr bullets will shoot lower on the target. Recoil starts as soon as the round is fired and the shorter barrel time of the 200 gr makes it shoot lower because it has less time to make the barrel rise in recoil.

Sorry about the wisecrack,if you are going to just shoot, I would get the 230. If you are going self defense get the 200,recovery is faster for the follow up shot. If you dont have adjustable sights shoot the one that hits closest to your sight picture.

from what I've heard and read, must be a pretty big bad guy to still come after you after eating a 230
