Wolf Ammo any good?

I decided to try another caliber of wolf ammo, this time their 115gr. 9mm fmj's. I had to adjust my scope on my High Point carbine to compensate for the hotter load! I'm used to shooting the winchester and remington range packs, the wolf is not only less expensive, but it shoots BETTER! Go figure. I tried a box just to see how it worked and ended up buying 10 more.As far as I'm concerned my High Points will be on a wolf diet from now on.

ok I pay 11.34 for 100 9mm, 115gr. target load in winchester...how much cheaper has anyone seen Wolfs new stuff? Walcrap is where I buy it... 12.09 out the door with tax...

I'm getting the 9mm wolf in 50 packs(steel case) for 4.99 a box at the rifle range I shoot at.Wallyworld doesn't even carry wolf(that I'm aware of) around here.Their winchester range packs of 100 9mm are 12.99, 40sw are 13.99 for 100 at wallyworld. Next time I go I'll keep an eye out for wolf ammo for price comparison.

I shot the wolf 40sw ammo.180gr fmj produced fairly consistant 3"groups at 50yds with a High Point 9040 (40sw carbine) with iron sights. My son was shooting the High Point 9mm carbine with 4x scope at 50yds producing 1" groups! He's 14 and I can't help braggin' about what a good shot he is.

He's been shooting with me since he was 9 yrs old, and can recite range rules and gun safety verbatim. All braggin aside, I think the wolf 40sw rounds are good for plinkin, but in a handgun like the HKUSP40 I had with me, forget it, I had two jams on the first 10 round magazine because the spent cases failed to eject, the first time this has EVER happened in this pistol.Needless to say the hk won't be fed wolf ammo again, but the el cheapo carbines love it. Go figure....

Wolf Ammo??? I have heard, or more so it's confirmed that it IS Russian ammunition and it is corrosive, how much corrosive I do not know. I shoot (surplus)corrosive stuff out of my MK98 (8MM) Mauser but I clean it after the range.

The only other negative thing about WOLF AMMO is, the casings are not made from a softer metal like brass is. I hear this metal casing will be hard on your receiver banging it up when it doesn't give like brass does. Those who are shooting simi automatics...

I stocked up on S. African .308 147 grain surplus stuff if the ShI@ ever hits the fan. I have a new Loaded SA M1A so I only shoot reputable factory ammo out of that...

Every box of wolf ammo I have shot all lists it as non corrosive, I've only shot 9mm, 40sw and .223 however.

I am getting tired of this thread, I have shot lots of wolf ammo, in a lot of guns, never had a problem. I have heard of others having problems with wolf but I have not, and I have noticed all of the posters on this thread who are negative about wolf don't shoot it they only heard that it was bad stuff.

wolf ammo is non corrosive, that is fact. i personally would not run the old laquered stuff thru my guns, but the new polymer coated stuff is fine. it feeds and functions fine in my bushmaster varminter. accuracy is so-so 1.5"-1.75" at 100yds ( with good ammo the varminter is a sub 1/4" rifle). as you guys know im one of the pickiest S.O.B's on the forum, and i deem the newer wolf polymer coated ammo as useable, affordable plinking ammo.

I've used Wolf ammo in .223, 308, 45ACP and 9MM. I've never had any problems in any of my guns. I clean my guns everytime I shoot them but I have fired 500 rounds of .223 in my AR15 in one session without cleaning and had no problems at all. You sure can't beat the price.
The ammo is in short supply right now since they are moving the plant from Russia to Serbia.

I've been shooting Wolf through my Mini-30 with no problems yet, but I am curious as to any other brand of 7.62 x39 y'all might suggest. Just for sh*ts 'n giggles I'd like to try something else out. (In case there are some steroidal squirrels in these hills.)

i was wondering what was this about how we shouldn't use wolf in 1911s?in ww2 we made millions of rounds of steel cased .45 acp ammo,so these rounds were shot through 1911s through out the war,even after it...probly shot through thompsons too.i've shot plenty of wolf rounds in various calibers and have had no real issues.only issue i have had was wolf 9mm in my s&w 59.for some reason the gun will not cycle the ammo.my glock will eat the wolf up no problem tho.also why does the smell that wolf makes have anything to do with if we should use it or not?if it works in the guns we use,and costs less who cares how it smells?

Has anyone tried the Wolf 7.5x55 ammo yet? Is it about the same price as the swiss surplus?(28 bucks for 60 rounds)I love shooting my K31, but it gets expensive after a while.I've been shooting a lot of the 148 grain wolf 7.62x54r fmj's lately,my Mosin 91/30 does very well with them.

Okay, so I just went through all 7 pages of this thread and found nothing about the .308 ammo from Wolf. I just picked up a CETME in 7.62x51 NATO and the deal was sweetened with 350 rounds of .308 Wolf. I'm hoping that it's not steel-cased, as I don't want to run anything other than brass out of this, seeing as how the dents on the sides of the cases are normal and part of the ejection of the spent case. I'm also hoping that the Wolf .308 is NATO-cross-stamped and not the ~64,000 psi-max of .308 Winchester. I have done quite a bit of research and found that since the CETME was designed for the lower 50,000 psi-max 7.62 NATO round, it would be a bad idea to run the .308 Win, even though it's essentially the same round.

Any comments from someone with experience with this caliber from Wolf would be appreciated. Especially if you've cycled it through a CETME!

I've used wolf for my .45 but I was considering buying a case of .223 myself seen it cheap somewhere. I haven't had any problems with the .45 rounds but I've only fired about 150 out of 450 thru my S&W.
