.454 casull split case

as i was shooting my new raging bull today i couldnt close the cylinder after taking a closer look the side of the factory case has a big split in it.
im glad it didnt chamber!

Was this a reload?If so how many times had it been reloaded and was it .454 or .45 Colt? sam.

Somehow the factory annealing process failed and when they crimped the bullet it cracked the case.I would contact the Co. and see what they say but even if it had chambered and you fired it there isnt much danger as long as it sustained pressure enough to push the bullet out the barrel.There could have been some hot powder flying out between the barrel abd cylinder but this is a perfect example why you should wear eye protection as this can happen with unfired factory ammo.The Co.may send you some free ammo if you contact them. sam.

Holy crap Bill. I`d get in contact with them, you might really score.

But either way, I`d contact them soon, it could be a real Q.C. issue and involve more than that one round.

update ,
i called them and gave the lady the lot # she told me to put it in a sturdy cardboard box and UPS will pick it up.
she didnt say anything about i get a free pony or a million bucks or anything so we will see.....
