Thank you Jerry but there are a lot of green, white and red boxes out there. How about specific cartridge specs. I have already purchased the Federal Lo Recoil 110g HC (hydra shock?) for home defense and am looking for a range/tryout cartridge that will prepare me for and make me confortable with the abovementioned cartridge when and if (and I hope never) that I really need to use the revolver.

Just get the cheapest stuff you can find for practice. CCI/Speer Blazer would be a start and it's good ammo. Last edited by Taurus Fan; 03-29-2008 at 05:19 PM.

Black Hills has some inexpensive .38 ammo, CHEAPER THAN DIRT catalogs have cheap ammo in them too. For self-defense, my wife likes Cor-bon hollow points.
