tail is I saw a neat hole that looked much like a large hollow
point from that end. The boattail when viewed backward
looks much like a Jacket hollow point pistol bullet.

I went to the range and shot about two dozen bullets
that I had pulled and reinserted backwards to test
accuracy to 50 yards and they grouped about
two inches with open sights off the bench which is about
as good as they shoot when pointy in first like normal.
These chronoed at 2705 fps about ten feet from muzzle.

I checked the bore after every shot to make sure nothing
funny going on just to be sure.

Weren't the 7N1 rounds supposed to tumble? If so it seems that would make an excellent take down round if you don't mind a meat of torn up meat. ?

Well, on Sunday I nailed a 300 pound wild boar sow
in the butt with one and then again w/ broadside
quartering away on second shot while it was crawling
away from about 30 yards. Both bullets mushroomed
perfectly but man do they look funny with the pointy
end sticking out the back!

I found the first bullet in the intestines after shooting
through the ham and hip ball socket and the 2nd bullet
I found in the opposite side shoulder.

I couldnt hand load a hollow point hunting load for 3 or 4 times
the price I dont think ! I'm pretty stoked and thought
I would share.... I need to do some longer shooting
to see what happens at 100 yards next time at range
thought.

I would personally spend the few $$ more on hunting ammo when hunting.

Nobody commented on the fact that he hit the boar in the a$$ first...

That is not good form. 2 shots where one could have done.

I absolutely hate to hurt an animal. Quick kill is the word of the day. Actually the word of any hunting day.

Innovation +1
Common sense -1

42? 43? You kids haven't even hit middle-age eyesight yet. Let me guess, iron sights are still easy for you to hit with at +200 yards?

I'll use my walker and have my guardian take me to the range next week. I'll use my M44 with the muzzle break and 20X scope and try to get on paper at 25 yards. Even if I miss I can still knock down the kids next to me with the muzzle blast.

Yep. My ripe old age of 49 gives me a different perspective on life. 35, 42, 43 . . . . . sheesh

Why is all of it heavy and heavier ball SP hunting ammo? I mean 150gr is plenty for deer and enough for Elk...I spose I'll have to suffice with 180gr or 203gr. I spose I'll get a box of each when it comes time to sight in the M38 with jmeck's scope mount that I got...when I get a scope. Prolly get a Bushnell Banner scope. They seem to be good quality at a good price.
