.257 Roberts Question

Can anyone tell me all the firearms this round is used in? It is between a .303 and a .22 round so you can tell size. The box is to the side.

Captn...
Nobody could tell you ALL the rifles...Remington released it in 1934 in the Model 30 Bolt action, Winchester later chambered the Model 54 and later the Model 70. Remington chambered the 722 bolt and 760 pump for it. Even Ruger made a Model 77 Bolt action for it.
I believe a company called Neidner made custom rifles in this caliber as early as 1928...Rare guns today !
Thats what I know...there may be some others...Oh, the Browning BBR ,BLR-81,and FN HP Bolt action rifles, and an A-bolt Micro Medallion was available

Most of the .257 Roberts I've seen were in custom rifles built off the mauser reciever. I have also seen them in the ackley improved on both small and large ring mauser.

As with you .32-40 question . . .

. . . the .257 Roberts pretty much came and went although, in all fairness, it did have a time of popularity so most of the major firearms firms did have at least one model chambered for the round. Again, you most likely will find some people on this forum with production records
who can give you dates of manufacture.

As another poster noted, barrels for it were often mated to military surplus 98 actions after WW2.

The history of firearms is paved with cartridges that just did not last in the marketplace.

I had a Ruger No 1 in 257, and a Mauser. I still kick myself for trading that No 1!
That boom stick was accurate !!!!!!!

I know a girl(well woman now) that hunts deer with a Browning A-Bolt in .257. I've also seen it in a Ruger M-77.

.257 Roberts
It is still chambered in a Ruger 77 MKII Ultra Light. This is a VERY good package a lightweight bolt gun in a very classy classic caliber.
