best *******assault rifle******** ammo

sorry for the turbulent term "assault rifle" but what are is the best long range ... powerful ammo that can be chambered into an ar15...

we've all seen the movies of a m16 or whatever with a 3 mile barrel and a scope thats just as extravagant to match it that is rediculasly accurate .
what sort of ammo are the using, size wise, not brand or matterial used in it.

recoil is unimportant to me, its ok to have a bruz now and again

try the 77gr ball ammo they are currently using. You will need a faster twist rate 1:7, 1:8, and maybe 1:9. If you hand load you can pretty much load anything you like. I hand load the 69gr sierra match king

Ditto with above Sierra 69 grain bullets and my own reloading. I have gotten (five shot) half inch groups at 200 yards using them. That was with a Colt H-Bar 20" barrel and 12x scope.

I believe it would be very difficult to stabilise a 77gr bullet in anything any slower than 1in7"twist and 1in9"twist does ok with a 62gr bullet. sam.

I guess that I'm in the minority here but I like the good old M193 55gr fmj ammo as it will fragment and or tumble and cause severe wounds. Where I employing the AR as a sniper rifle at longer range exclusively than I would use the heavier stuff.

Were you asking for bullet weight in 5.56, or were you asking largest caliber?

So does or will a 69Gr work well in a 1 in 9 twist BBL? Because that's what I was hoping/thinking of trying. LMK and thanks in advance.
