| Senior Member | I'm starting to get the itch for a Weatherby these days. I read that the 30-378's have a tendancy to eat barrels after a couple hundred rounds due to ultra high velocities, although a 4000fps .30 is still pretty **** cool. Not real useful in my eyes, but cool none the less. My question is do the 338-378's have the same durability problems? Because it'd be a real turnoff to spend that much on a rifle to have it wear out that fast. I'm asking because as soon as I start my new job after graduation this summer I'll be moving back to Alaska and I can finally justify a 'big' gun with the prospect of bear hunting. Or should I just cut to the chase and go for a 375H&H/378Wby?
